Conservative journalist Robert Maginnis on why we should keep Don't Ask, Don't Tell:
Sexual tensions and sex-based favoritism in intimate settings destroy cohesion, whether they involve opposite- or same-sex attraction. If we respect women’s need for privacy from men, then we ought to respect the same need on the part of heterosexuals with regard to homosexuals. Protecting privacy in a military with open homosexuality would necessitate recognizing essentially four sexes and would severely disrupt units.
If that's the case, why don't we have four types of bathrooms? Or, actually, six (for the trannies).

You can kinda see his point though. He's starting from a faulty premise, certainly (that sexual tension causes problems), but from that point on his logic does kinda work, even if he does take it to an extreme.
I guess the solution is to go the opposite direction, and stop segregating men and women. After all, it works on Battlestar Galactica!
In NYC the Human Rights Commission has stated that one has the right to use whatever bathroom feels gender appropriate. Sometimes I feel like a woman, sometimes I don't. Depending on the line.
Frankly, if everyone got the hell out of the bathroom, I would feel a whole lot more comfortable. It's private time and I'm a little pee shy. :-(
Actually WWH, public restrooms are the main reason I decided to transition genders. Women's restrooms are so much cleaner than men's, and some of them even have flowers in them! How did this thread get back to bathrooms, anyways? I tell ya, Queerty is going down the toilet(insert rimshot).
Ummm…that's why God invented bathroom stalls with doors. Privacy.
Heather, amen. However, I don't think one has to transition in order to use the women's bathroom. I am transfluid and generally don't live as a hard-wired gender binary at all (and sometimes, I envy those that can). But I could get off on a bathroom for transfolk.
This guy is really a douche, tho. Seems he thinks there should be legislation based on the discomfort of other people… instead of realizing their discomfort is, well, stupid. Welcome to a Queer Planet. If I can sit through all the heterosexual blah I have had to sit through, they can deal with their feelings and my folks shouldn't have to suffer for it. Hets can grow the fuck up just like everyone else — if only we stop coddling them.
