FOUL MOUTH

Homophobic College Football Coach Greg Lupfer Suspended For Anti-Gay Remarks

A defensive line football coach from Colorado State is getting a mere slap on the wrist this week after calling Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday a “f*cking faggot” for throwing a touchdown pass.

The moment, which can be relived again and again through the gif to the right, was caught on camera by ESPN and aired to a national audience during the Gildan New Mexico Bowl last weekend. Coach Greg Lupfer will receive a lofty two-week vacation (everyone else says “suspension”) for the extremely vulgar and disgusting homophobic remark.

Aside from going two weeks without pay, Lupfer will reportedly undergo anger management and diversity training at the request of Jack Graham, the school’s athletic director. This, apparently, will hold him accountable for actions that have caused others to lose their jobs.

As expected, Lupfer opened his behind and issued an “apology“:

I accept these consequences—two weeks without pay and the training programs—and I am thankful for this second chance to continue coaching at Colorado State and be a part of the Ram Family. I am deeply sorry for my behavior, which does not represent who I am or my values. I embrace the opportunity to participate in anger management and diversity sensitivity training. I was angry and careless with my words, and my words hurt many people. I sincerely apologize to the GLBTQ community for causing pain by using a slur without considering its meaning. I take ownership of my words and fully understand why people are very upset.
