Hope College Will Continue Fighting to Keep Gay Sex Off Its Campus

Hope College, the $25,000-a-year Christian-y Michigan college that nixed a visit from Dustin Lance Black to screen Milk, is sticking by its stance on homosexuality: Eww, gross.

If you couldn’t tell from Black’s meeting with Richard Frost, Hope’s dean, the administration is one big hot bed of fearing “the others.” And they’re keeping it that way.

Hope College won’t remove a policy on homosexuality and won’t change its administrative decision-making process, but may eventually amend the policy in a committee, according to a statement released by the college on Friday. Alumni, student, and community groups in a coordinated effort each had petitioned the board of trustees to drop a 1995 policy on homosexuality that condemns homosexual acts and gay advocacy, but supports “fair and kind treatment for people with a homosexual orientation” and the academic discussion of issues related to homosexuality.

So long as “academic discussion” does not involve “inviting famous homosexuals on campus to discuss the problems with homophobia.”
