House Republicans Fail To Protect American By Renewing The Patriot Act

In an “embarrassing setback” for Republicans, the House yesterday failed to renew key parts of the USA Patriot Act, falling seven votes shy of continued infringement on Americans’ constitutional rights. A two-thirds majority was required because of the way the bill was brought up for a vote; the final 277-148 vote wasn’t enough, so expect the GOP to bring it back up this month.
