How Come Nobody Has Yet Blamed The Gays For Japan’s Earthquake + Tsunami?

Pat Robertson blamed us for Haiti. Some other religious zealots blamed us for New Zealand’s earthquake. But here we are, WHOLE HOURS after an 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the shore of Japan, sending 20-foot tsunamis crashing into the east coast of the country and to all points beyond (including Hawaii), and I haven’t received a single tweet personally attributing blame for this horrific natural disaster on me and my kind. C’mon, CBN: Put somebody on the airwaves to explain how this is all the fault of fags!

Dear Max and queerty: Are you really another attention whores? People have died in that cataclysm and only thing you can write about is if you’ll be blamed for causing this? Are you really so empty?

I know they’re sad and everything, but I find natural disasters so fascinating. I guess it’s because the closest things we get to natural disasters where I live are the tail end of Hurricanes.

Disgusting. Are you really that morally and emotionally vapid, or did you post this just to get the reaction you got? Whichever, it’s still disgusting.

Tragic event and tasteless thought? yes. Question correct? yes. Give it time, it will happen. You don’t have to worry about “giving” them the idea, it’s thier mindset to begin with. In the minds of the religious fundimentalist, we are Satan’s spawn and are the cause of all the world’s problems. You know, just like certain people think about the Jews. This is why no one is going to just “give” us our equal rights in the United States. For them (religious fanatics),it would be the equivalent of loosing WWII to the nazis.

Everyone finding this tasteless, yes it is, and that’s the point. People WILL blame this on us, even though Japan is very closeted about their gay scene.

It’s inevitable that the crazies will say something. Queerty is being cynical as always. You can’t think anyone who works for this blog honestly doesn’t give a shit ’bout the suffering

That was New Zealand! How many earthquakes do you think they can be responsible for? This one can clearly be blamed on Charlie Sheen.

Horrifically enough, there are people on both Twitter and Facebook claiming this is karmic repayment/Jesus’ belated revenge for Pearl Harbor.

      Sickening.

@NCNC: I would think, you know, the atomic bomb we dropped on them TWICE would be enough repayment, but apparently that’s not adequate for the Jesus/USA freaks.

Half of them say Jesus caused it and the other half pray for him to fix it. Unbelievable.

I thought Pat Robertson blamed the Haiti earthquake on Voodoo? I remember feeling slighted or maligned at the time, as if what I did in bed was no longer (to quote John Corvino) “a threat to the nation’s infrastructure”.

When you believe a man made book about fairy tales, and muster up EVERY event on this planet as absolutely nothing to do with scientific facts and everything to do with Jesus….then, rational thinking is not a trait they have. They are loons who will create, distort, and twist any thought to fit their insane ideology.

I was listening to a Conservative Christian radio host today who said “this event in Japan proves evolution does not exist” and I thought, really? REALLY? Don’t argue with stupidity. Just look at them and feel fortunate you are free thinking.

Guess it’s true that it takes all kinds. That includes gays who can’t fathom that everything is not about them. Those who can only see through the prism of their group-centric identifier.

You really ought to be ashamed, and should be concerned, that your aptitude for empathy and depth of feeling are as shallow as they are.

      Absolutely appalling.

Don’t worry, someone will blame us. Just wait. Everything is our fault, don’t you know, to the religious nuts. Even when their book doesn’t say so, they make it so in their own heads….

@Oprah: What leads you to believe that a tsunami has anything to do with Religion? Do you know what religions are practiced in japan? Do you have any self respect?

As usual, you comment like a 15 year old HS drop-out with reallllly strong opinions on the Adam Lambert vs Justin Bieber debate.

You guys are classless trash for posting something like this poking fun at others for not making this tragedy what it is not about!! You should feel ashamed and instead of wasting your efforts and bandwidth on this, you should be using it to help raise support and help!

No. 19 · Oprah wrote, “I blame it on lack of God worshiping in Japan.”

If you’ve ever visited Japan, you’d know that there are plenty of religious people. In fact, it seems that, if you sum the membership of all religions in Japan, the number exceeds the population – they don’t see a problem with having more than one religion at a time, and some figure that some religions are a better fit when young and others are a better fit when old. With Shintoism being very tolerant of other beliefs, you may get a polite “yes” if you ask if someone practices a specific religion.

Shintoism has plenty of gods, generally benign (they don’t get angry and send lightening bolts in your general direction or send you to “hell” for some minor transgression), and it does not have a fully formed theology – it gets passed down by participating in ceremonies.

From what I’ve seen on FB, many American’s in the middle bit of that country are too busy saying it’s Karma for Pearl Harbour, I think they may have forgotten Hiroshima though… either that or are too stupid to pronounce it. Give it time, we queers will get the blame for the next natural world event. Hey! Maybe we can casue the next solar eclipse!!
