She looks like she’s in real pain. I can’t understand why some people seem to relish this. Would you like to have a breakdown while everyone is snapping your picture, even in the middle of the night?

well, you have to understand that there is a little leeway when it’s self inflicted pain… and it continues… and it goes on… and on… and on.
i don’t really have that “it sucks to be you” attitude… but when people create their own hell… that’s a bit different.
It’s not that simple, though. Yes, it’s your fault for getting into the stuff and getting addicted in the first place, and for being dumb enough to think you can handle it, but once you ARE addicted it’s so hard to deal with, even with help. And even if you do get a handle on it, one slip can send you spiralling back down again. Drugs, alcohol, smoking, anything addictive really, are all illnesses and people need help.
