How Jennifer Aniston Made The Internet’s Biggest Gay Bully Shut Up

America’s Worst Actress Jennifer Aniston can’t take credit for a decent box office return, but she is taking credit for getting a certain Internet bully to tone it down. Now if Jennifer Aniston rolled up next to me in public, I would ask her about The Bounty Hunter like so: WTF?

Oh look… now that Perez Hilton has stopped bullying, Queerty picks up where he left off… there is no need for the rudeness in the article.

Actually Hilton said he wasn’t going to stop that after those kids were being bullied to death.

It’s kind of sick that Aniston is taking credit for something he’d already announced he was going to do and had been doing.

That said…does anybody still go to his site?

      But tallskin2 hasn’t shut up.

Or does Queerty know something about tallskin2’s sexual orientation?

I get that you are either a crazed fan or that you work for Aniston’s publicist and are charged with scouring the internet each day for mentions of any of your boss’s clients…

But to even have the lack of a soul in comparing kids that were harrassed and tortoured TO DEATH to somebody not liking Jennifer Aniston’s acting…is a sign of a sick sick person.

Frankly I think YOU owe a written apology to the family of every dead gay kid out there for daring to compare the pain and heartbreak that they and their children went through with something as shallow and vapid of your not-agreeing with somebody’s opinion on Anniston’s acting. You disgust me.

@Cam: Dude, first chill the fuck out. Second, ELLEN said “after that show, perez was backstage and told one of the producers pretty much that it was because of you”. Jennifer never even broached the subject, calm yourself down.

Are you on queerty’s staff? because they have become shite recently. shame on myself i guess for still coming to this site.

also, NY152 only said they were no better. the bullies themselves didn’t physically kill anybody, did they? no, it was because of their horrible, disgusting language and taunting that the poor kids chose to see death as a last resort to escape. this site is doing just that right now. using, horrible, disgusting language and taunting another human being. it’s the same culture that we need to fight against. you’re pretty sick if you think we only need to fight against bullies that are so abusive, their targets kill themselves. we should be fighting ALL bullies, even the ones targeting celebrities, straight people, etc.

if you think someone dying is what makes a bully a digusting person, you’ve got a horribly fatalist mind there. ALL bullying is despicable.

@Joe: Two decent performances do not “an amazing actress” make. I would suggest that you review the reviews of ALL of her films by the more respected print film critics (“NY Times,” “NY Mag,” “New Yorker,” etc.)

@LancerLaw and NY152: I respectfully disagree. I’m not a fan of Perez but I think that neither he nor Queerty have been rude enough to Anniston. Anniston makes MILLIONS of dollars and to the best of my knowledge she hasn’t given much to charity – certainly not LGBT charities. Brangelina puts their money where their mouth is and has given MILLIONS and also contributed to the fight against Prop 8 and have spoken out in favor of LGBT rights. Has Anniston?!? NO! Her good friend Chelsea Handler is just as rude, if not ruder, to Angelina Jolie and others as Perez is and I haven’t heard Anniston object to the same. Please enlighten me. Chelsea also allegedly dated and made a big deal about 50 Cents who is a homophobe, IMO. If Anniston is sooooo concerned about bullying, etc., why doesn’t she start with her circle of friends? She makes Debbie Reynolds look like a novice while playing the victim/wronged woman card – really! Enough is enough! I’m obviously a fan of Angelina and to all of her haters, especially those in the LBGT community, I pose this question to you: Angelina has publicly stated that she is not ashamed of her lesbian relationships and also supported our community’s struggle for equality. What has Anniston done? NOTHING! Best, JeffR

@Jeff R: I don’t know where to start here. 50 cent was raised by his lesbian mother, yet he is a homophobe (in your opinion), and she’s supposed to change her circle of friends because of your opinion?

Chelsea Handler is a comedienne, and as such, her “bullying” is typically for comedic purposes. There is a nuanced difference between comedy and insults. Perez Hilton, for example, relied on insults and very snarky, mean things to say against most people for no real reason. At some point, you realize that you left comedy and are just being pointlessly cruel. Now, I haven’t really ever heard what she has to say about Angelina, so I won’t make any claims to know that she isn’t being irrationally mean to her. Being good friends with the woman whose marriage was reportedly torn apart by Angelina might be a contributing factor, just fyi. If you have never made a bad remark about one of your friend’s ex’s new lovers, then you really have no right to judge someone else for doing so.

Jennifer Aniston doesn’t have to take up any LGBT causes. She doesn’t have to. Neither do you. Neither do I. She may just want to keep herself apolitical. She may believe she is an entertainer more than she is a spokeswoman for any one belief. She may be supporting LGBT-friendly charities and not mentioning it. It happens a lot in Hollywood, especially with stars who don’t want to appear to be political. Point is, just because she isn’t doing what you want her to do doesn’t mean you have a right to bully her, or that she deserves more bullying, as you implied. I think that’s surprisingly ignorant to believe.

If you want her to do something, you treat her like a human being and ask, politely. Don’t demand. It makes you look worse.

Personally, I’ve always liked Jennifer Aniston as an actress. I rarely am interested in the type of movies she likes to do, however, with the exception “The Object of My Affection”, “The Break-Up”, and her guest turn on “Cougartown”. I would not call her the worst actress by any means.

But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Queerty is snarky. They’ve always been snarky. And sometimes they’re gonna write things that are hilarious because you agree with them, and sometimes they’re gonna write things that fall flat or even offend because you don’t agree with them.

The day Queerty starts playing nice because Jennifer Aniston has many fans is the day I take them off my bookmark.

Just because you “think” I am part of some staff (which I am not) does not give you permission to step on, shred or misrepresent MY personal opinions.

Frankly, it’s getting to the point that Queerty needs to turn off the ability to leave responses to stories because there always one bad apple/bully that ruins it for the rest of the disciplined responders. Enough said!

If it wasn’t for Friends, Jennifer Aniston would be a nobody. In fact, she’d probably still be working in a supermarket check-out.

Her acting skills are extremely limited and she has no imagination when it comes to her appearance. I mean, she’s had the same fucking hairstyle for at least 10 years.

Using long hair to disguise your box nose can only work for so long, Jennifer.

      Soupy,

I am very female friendly on an individual basis. I am also very pro-equal rights for women. What I’m opposed to is female privilege. Women have been very cunning in certain ways, and I’m thoroughly sick of this form of behavior.

Jennifer is hardly a poster child for women with her curtain-like hair which consists of strands that look as if they’ve been dipped in bat shit.

Aniston doesn’t seem to want dramatic roles, but she’s good at light comedy. Lots of more ‘serious’ actors can’t carry a funny line, so they avoid those roles.

I don’t get the impression she’s aching to do Ibsen or Shakespeare, nor the impression that she’s someone who takes herself too seriously.

So what’s up with so many posts about long hair today from Jason? I smell “mommy issues”! And a whole heap of hatred for women in general.

      Thematics,

I just dislike the orthodoxy that Hollywood women impose on themselves and other women. They all like to say how empowered and individual they are yet they all look like clones with the same long hairstyles, all designed to please men.

Modern women are slaves to what men want. Slaves to the fashion industry, slaves to the shampoo industry, and slaves to the cosmetics industry. Yet they keep insisting that they are “powerful” women. Powerful, my foot.

Jennifer, herself, is a puppet of modern Hollywood. Her hair has basically stayed the same since Friends, her acting skills have the breadth of a piece of paper, and her choice of roles is simply breathtaking in its self-stereotyping capacity.

@Redmont: “Don’t know where to start?” Let me help.
1)50 Cent: The fact that his mother is a lesbian doesn’t preclude his being homophobic. I based my opinion on numerous homophobic quotes published in the media – several quotes, reputable media. Do your homework. I believe that one suggested gunning down guests/participants at a gay wedding. Great guy – terrific role model. I assume that you ascribe to Chris Brown Rihanna bashing excuse, too -“Oh, his mother was abused” and the Mel Gibson defense: He’s really not anti-semitic, homophobic or racist. Boys will be boys?
2)Chelsea Handler: Her repeated Angie bashing occurred frequently on her show and in concert. It made the national media, including network morning news shows, the print media, most tv entertainment shows, “The View,” “Joy Behar,” the internet, The Huffington Post, etc. She crossed the line into Perez territory. Once again, do your homework.
3)Chelsea’s Angie Bashing/Jennifer: Ms. Anniston’s team has made her personal life public fodder for years which she’s acquiesced to. I merely suggested that she tell Chelsea to STFU. She should have issued a gracious statement puttin the matter to rest once and for all. Of course that would preclude future PR regarding the same.
4)Bullying: I was not bullying Ms. Anniston. Ms.Anniston has been bullying Angelina for years for allegedly stealing her husband/destroying her marriage. YEARS! Can anyone really steal one’s partner or destroy one’s marriage? It’s odd that there were rumors that the marriage was in trouble long before Angelina – during the filming of “Troy.” Who knows? Ms. Anniston and her expert team have been milking the victim/martyr schtick for YEARS! Read her inteviews over the years – she’s been playing the victim forever, albeit obliquely/subtley/through implication. That’s bullying used to reinforce her “girl next door” image and bolster her fan base at the expense of Angelina. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Please note that over the decades Debbie Reynolds’ “girl next door” image became tarnished – I suspect that the same is happening with Anniston. Not necessarily bullying, just getting rid of the PR BS.
5)Charitable contributions: It’s her money – allegedly lots of it – so you’re correct and she’s free to spend it as she likes. Having allowed/abetted her personal life (Marriage, Mom, failed romances, etc.) becoming PR/tabloid fodder, I kinda doubt that she wouldn’t celebrate her charitable contributions, however. Do you really think that Mr. Huvane would pass on such a great PR opportunity?
6)Political Anonymity: She’s made several controversial statements regarding single motherhood, appeared on vatious telethons (The Tsunami, Haitian Relief), so she’s not exactly a recluse. I just think that someone so singlemindedly intent upon maintaining their “girl next door”/the good girl (pun intended) image might want to support equality even if the ignorant masses who buy into her victim/martyr BS might be offended by the same. Hmmmmm. Silly me.
7)Bullying/Perez: I don’t support him. She was right to call him out on his bullying. She is wrong in not calling Chelsea out on her bullying – isn’t that what good friends do, especially when you’re at least peripherally involved in the same?
8)Bullying redux: It’s called show BUSINESS. Anniston’s team is comprised of some of the best in the business. It’s HER TEAM. They’ve been milking the Debbie Reynolds schtick (sans children/the bff angle) forever. Just issue a statement and end the same: “She ruined my marriage” or “The marriage was over and she didn’t steal Brad.” Of course that would preclude future, endless interviews, covers, etc. The relentless depiction of Angelina as the “bad one” is a form of bullying which Anniston has been complicit in if only by her refusal to set the matter straight after YEARS of beneficial press.

Class: How do we say Sandra Bullock? Actors who maintain low profiles/keep their private lives private? Susan Sarandon, Tom Hanks, Cate Blanchett, Keanu Reeves, Michelle Pfeiffer?!? Younger actresses like Keira Knightly, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Williams who refuse to discuss their private lives? Those like Ms. Bullock, Charlize Theron, Kate Winslett, Scarlett Johannsen who don’t allow their private lives to become media circuses? Your girl needs to get some class.
      Best,
      JeffR

Why is it so impossible for people in this age to have a difference of opinion without insults? Queerty stated that Jennifer Anniston was a bad actress (opinion). The rest are trading insults like baseball cards or marbles. Didn’t they get enough insults growing up? The truth is that while sticks and stones break bones, names can destroy a soul. Don’t we have enough name calling with the homophobes that inhabit this planet? When will we learn to disagree without trying to slash at each other? It is disgusting. We hear that “God Hates Fags” from the religious right. What does this meanness do for anyone, except make life miserable.
