Great idea!!! Contact his advertisers and tell them you won't buy their products if they continue to associate their brands with Perez Hilton.

All we really have to do is write Mario's advertisers that we will no longer support their products since they are supporting HATE from someone that chooses between nigger and faggot as a means to degrade someone. IT IS THAT SIMPLE. Make sure whatever projects he is working on hear from us and then that will serve his ego.

Anyone else catch the admission that he'd "always known that a lot of gays didn’t like me"?

Really, he's admitting to putting on the worst kind of gay minstrel show. He throws hissy fits and gets catty (performs his gayness) purely for the amusement and consumption of straight people. This also explains the, uh, temperament and caliber of his comments section. His website is where straight people go to be shocked by gay attitude.

He is essentially a big fat Uncle Tom.

@Dave: pacifist much? Dude let's be real if you're in a heated argument with a raving lunatic who has been drinking, then use the worst name possible to describe that lunatic, more than like you will be punched in the mouth. So for the love of God get off your moral high horse. If Perez wants to be a top dog in the sleaze business that’s fine but he should be prepared to be called out by the very individuals he trash talks and get his comeuppence. He should have stood there and taken his medicine and then simply walked away instead of fanning the flames and hurling insults back.

@jonny: You’re portraying Perez to be some sort of victim when the reality is that he victimizes people everyday and has capitalized on the pain and misery of others. My disdain of Perez has nothing to do with his outspokenness but in his line of work, which is petty and trite. Don’t act like he’s Gandhi. The guy peddles in gossip and sleaze and makes no apology for it. Yet after the stink he raised about Isaiah Washington he found it wise to ponder “what is the most offensive thing I can say to this guy to piss him off?” Calls him the F word and then surprise surprise he got punched. I don’t condone violence at all but if you call a straight man a faggot or if you were considering calling a black man the N word, you’d better put on your boxing gloves because those are fighting words.

@Merlin: Does anyone on this planet deserved to be hit when someone doesn't like what someone says about them?

This. Exactly this, and nothing else.

Everything else aside, what it boils down to is that you don't get to hit people just because they were mean. I just have to shake my head at all these commenters who think he got what was coming to him. Really? So if you call Fred Phelps names, he's allowed to hit you? Nice to know.

Sorry, but Perez has always been a self-hating racist retard who happens to be gay. He is inarticulate, mean spirited and hateful. Why is he somehow a spokesperson for a community he obviously hates?

And stating that he "wanted" to call him the "n" word. This says a lot about him as a person. Why would he ever want to use such a word to insult another person? And using the "f" word in its place, what a douchebag.

Yes the reason i don't like mario is that i'm bursting with internalized homophobia

I get the impression that all the "you hate Perez because you just can't handle the sheer magnitude of his awesomeness" people may actually be Perez himself. Okay, I'm no doubt wrong about that as I am about everything else, but it's still a silly argument. Personally, I don't hate him (I try not to hate anyone), but I do think he behaves badly, I don't think he behaved well on this occasion, and it's okay for people to say so. The gay community isn't actually all that communal, and that's not always a terrible thing. The fact that one gay man can strongly disagree with another gay man is not proof that the former is "jealous" of the latter.

as far as i can work out, here it is: bursting with internalised homophobia and a desperate need to present a bland, family-friendly image of gays to middle america, they get nauseous at an unapologetically gay, self-confident, high-profile figure ruffling people's feathers. they're scared that the more attention he gets, the more straights will notice that some gays fulfil the stereotypes of being gossipy, dramatic, camp, bitchy.

so they abuse him as loudly as they can. they call him a fat, ugly, pink-haired freakshow. they scream to the mainstream: "don't worry, we hate fags like him too!". when he gets beaten up by a violent thug they loudly join in with the overwhelming chorus that he brought it on himself (brave move!). and now, just for getting on the cover of a magazine, they're out again calling him a "stain" on the community.

here's what i think. the community isn't "stained" by people we wouldn't take home to meet the AFA. i was never a fan of perez, but after watching these months of jealous, bitter abuse, i think i might be now.

My favorite part of the incident is when Perez referred to will.i.am. as a "thug" masquerading as a muscian. will.i.am. is about thuggish as Miss Marple. But he's black, so in Perez's view, he's a thug.

He's the definition of mess. His falling-apart over this has been amusing to watch. He has great numbers, yes, but the idea of getting behind him because he fancies himself a gay rights activist is laughable. You only need to read the homophobic comments his readers make to realize that, while they flock to his site for its coverage, they're hardly being swayed by his politics.

He is, in a word, gross. A buffoon. I don't think it would be a stretch to assume he's racist. He's not bright. To call someone a faggot out of anger after the campaign he waged against Isaiah Washington proves he doesn't get the very principle that mdade Isaiah Washington's outburst a bad thing.

No one respects him. For good reason.

Perez is no prize but wow how obviosly envious is Queerty of him? It's really amusing when people don't care how obvious they are. Queerty is doing everything to try to be famous but not many people really care. #ecause Queerty are jealous of everyone who is more popular than them .... that's a lot of negative energy which shows up in negative posts like this igniting more negativity. This is a basically negative blog with bad vibes ... sometimes it's informative but mostly negative. Catty and jealous doesn't begin to describe this sad post. Perez knows something Queerty doesn't and one of those things is how to be a celebrity which Q is obviously dying for but is like an aging old alcoholic instead crying out 'Look at me Look at me *Advocate! wwaaaaaaaaaaahhh boo hoo hoooo why does Perez come back on the cover of the Advocate after sll that? we queerty's thought it was finally curtains for him' suck it up he is famous and you are not. jealous.

He thinks it's funny to be out of control. So hot headed is he that he turns and lashes out at anyone who disagrees with him. Child, he is a mess. And then there's Tila, the one who shows her body parts and expects everyone to take her seriously when she is clearly using the moniker gay or bi to be whatever she feels she is. Nothing wrong with them as people, but their antics are defeating us in everyone's eyes. They just go on and on and on............... Really, I wouldn't take us seriously, but this is all because everyone's more concerned (around some parts) about numbers. Numbers only help when he draws them in for all the right things.

@Hominy Grits: Numbers mean nothing to the glbt community if they are numbers for ALL the wrong reasons. Everytime he does something stupid, it gets blown out of proportion and ALL OF US have to pay for his "sins" (whatever they may be). So who cares about his hits. PH needs to be more collected. That gossip crap will destroy him. Mark my words. GLBT people should just get away from him and fast. Move towards RESPECTABILITY. Tongue in cheek is fine, but Perez doesn't know where that ends sometimes. I have read him and no longer do. He's just outright mean.

Perezhilton gets 7 mil global visitors a month at his site -- while Queerty barely breaks 400K global. He not only constantly screams FULL EQUALITY for ALL GAYS
and calls out dumb ass bigots like Carrie Prejean and Maggie Gallagher --
but the kids love him.

queerty should only BE so popular, respected and influential

but hey queerty gives a great platform to the same 23 self-hating Obamapologists and old queens who have to swipe at everything that isnt the same ol' 'we deserve what we get' mentality.

I'd rather have Perez on the cover than Madonna. What has Madonna ever done for gay rights? Madonna used gay men to build up a power base and then marketed herself using the same sorts of sexist, exploitative images of women you see in the straight men's magazines - bisexual, half-naked etc etc.

Wake up, gay guys. You're quickly becomeing a dysfunctional community. Stop worshipping these female singers and start getting behind Perez.

maverick,

Your argument in convoluted. How is my logic similar to the gay panic argument? Gay panic argument relates to using an inordinate fear of a gay person as an excuse - and justification - to beat them physically. My logic has nothing to do with this.

Perez may not be everyone's cup of tea but at least he's out there in the mainstream challenging homophobia. It frustrates me no end that most gay men are content to visit their saunas and sandwich shops instead of putting up a fierce front as Perez does.

@ Jason

"He used the word "faggot" not out of fear of gays but to mock those who are fearful of gays. It's reverse psychology. Nothing scares a homophobe more than being called that which he uses against those he loathes."

Your defending this logic is the same as the "Gay Panic" argument and a very "weak" one for "hate". Anyone with half a brain knows the "reverse psychology" method as a defense - as a last desperate measure. And no, "I'm not a gay coffee shop sipper"

As for those who say that Perez is harming the gay community, I think you're being weak. Perez points out homophobia in the mainstream, such as the music industry. You, on the other hand, sit on the sidelines sniping from your gay coffee shops.

@ Matt,

You seem to miss the whole point. Here is what Perez was quoted as saying:

But Perez tells me that, in the heat of the moment that night, he almost chose to use a different word. “I thought about calling him the n word,” he says over the phone a week after the incident, “but I thought the f word was even worse. I was so filled with "hate" at that moment because I was "hated" on so much, and I reacted in the worst way possible.

"Hate" is the key word and emotion here. And this is what the LGBT community has been fighting for and still fights everyday - against "hate" which is a very ugly word especially used in the context Perez used it in. Perez Hilton is no different than anyone else on Fox news. Which is why the LGBT community are up in arms over the incident. The Queens at Stonewall from 1969 would be very disappointed to say the least with the way Perez Hilton handled the situation. Violence begets violence and hate begets hate. Period. The man nearly took 40 years of progress and flushed it down the drain. Yeah, Way to go for an advocate for the LGBT community - NOT !!!!!!

But Perez tells me that, in the heat of the moment that night, he almost chose to use a different word. “I thought about calling him the n word,” he says over the phone a week after the incident, “but I thought the f word was even worse. I was so filled with “hate” at that moment because I was “hated” on so much, and I reacted in the worst way possible.

“Hate” is the key word and emotion here. And this is what the LGBT community has been fighting for and still fights everyday – against “hate” which is a very ugly word especially used in the context Perez used it in. Yeah, Way to go for an advocate for the LGBT community – NOT !!!!!!

This man is nothing more than a Jester for absurd people who find Tila-Tequila or any other well marketed human being more interesting then themselves, they're own lives, or they're world. His trade is one based on nonsense and mortifyingly useless information. He has a big role in perpetuating one of the most unhealthy past-times of America. It is never to late for anybody to change or have a paradigm shift, and if that is what this man is going through, than that is a beautiful thing. He can crawl away with what little dignity he has and perhaps come back as somebody that (we as gay men) would actually want representing us. But I am terribly certain that if I type into my URL bar right now Perez-Hilton.com and am taken to that pitiful site that is teeming with hate and trivial gossip, then everything that he said is completely void. I am a 20 year old college student who is seeing a new face for the gay movement, a new lifestyle, one where there is no sight of leather, sexually linked-nicknames such as twink or bear, or any other off color ideologies of the negative stereotype that has been constructed by the yestergays. Please do not get me wrong when I say that, not to discredit any gay men before me, there were millions of them who had the right idea, but there were millions more who took the wrong approach. Times are changing for my generation, and because of this paradigm shift, times will change and improve for every gay man before me. But to bring it around full circle, I will say that there is no individual who I want representing me who has pink hair. But there is a balance in everything, and for every act of hate there is an act of love, and for every Hilton there is a Dustin Lance Black. It is important that we raise our voices against what we find to be degrading, because (and I find this terribly appropriate right now considering that author of the quote) "there's nothing that cant be done if we raise our voice as one" . And that is true, but it is also the case that some of us must learn when to tone it down for the sake of the mental evolution of America.

@Rhyderrch: Exactly! Perez's blog used to be quite funny, but then he started to become famous himself and suddenly it was all about himself and it kept getting meanier and meanier, with nothing funny left on it. And he became exactly the kind of person he ridiculed.

It is all about a group of entertainers and how they want to be seen in the press and Perez is famous for goofing on all of them in ways that they don't like. Do you know any pushier people in the world then selfish entertainers?

Does anyone on this planet deserved to be hit when someone doesn't like what someone says about them? That is the whole story, violence was used to scare off a self styled critic of a group that obviously orchestrate this whole event in advance.

Hurting people to get them to change their minds is as old as slavery in America! Justify violence how ever youse guys want. It isn't about being gay, even when it is organized bashing like in Texas or Canada!

Is Kathy next?

@Matt: So is cool with you that he feels that it's his duty and responsibility to "out" celebrities? There are bloggers like Michael K at Dlisted who is catty but it's all tongue in cheek and you get the overall sense that he's a nice guy. Perez is so focused on becoming a celebrity and social climber that I stopped reading his blog long ago. He's very mean spirited and often forgets thats celebrities that he writes about are real people with real feelings. I wouldn't be friends with someone like that so I certainly wouldn't admire someone like that as you apparently do. That says alot about who you are.
