Tim Coco and Genesio Oliveira, who legally married in Massachusetts in 2005, have reason to celebrate: After Oliveira was forced back to Brazil for three years because the feds don’t recognize their union (thanks, DOMA!), federal ICE officials granted them a one-year reprieve that lets Oliveira back in the U.S. for another shot at gaining citizenship. It only took the personal appeals of Sen. John Kerry, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Homeland Security Sec. Janet Napolitano, so that sounds doable for everyone. [Globe]
