Publicist Howard Bragman’s coming out show — aptly titled Coming Out — will premiere the week before Christmas on A&E. “It is a difficult series to cast and produce, but celebrities have been approaching me,” says Bragman. “The idea is people tune in each week to find out who is coming out – and the response will be either ‘Duh!’ or ‘Wow!’ We will have ‘Wows!’ But it is not about how big the celebrity is. It’s really about the storytelling. I’ll never force somebody out.” Sorry kids, that means no James Franco

Howard Bragman skeeves me out.
CONVERSATION CHAMBER
I doubt I’ll be wowed, considering no big name is going to use a dinky little cable show on A&E as a platform to expose this about themselves. He’ll get C/D list hasbeens and “media” celebrities (aka reality show contestants.)
Cory
Sad that TV has now come to exploiting the coming out moment.

I am all for people coming out. I think that if everyone who is gay would come out, it would be such a huge stride toward erasing a lot of the ignorance and hatred we face. But to make a television show about it? I don’t know, but something just doesn’t sit well with me. And in my time, I have watched waaaaayyyyy too much trashy reality tv…
EM
Jake G, I expect to see you there, pronto.
Devon
I’m expecting more “who?”s than anything else.
Pete
Probably more of the nobody country chick this summer…

Charlie Crist has some time on her hands.

It’s on A&E so I won’t even have the opportunity to give it a shot. I was hoping to watch the first episode just to see how “real” it is. But oh well. Eh…maybe they’ll have the episodes online somewhere.

@Ash: Maybe you can catch it on HULU, Youtube or some other internet/tv/video thingy.
On topic: I’ll believe it when I see it. also agree that is won’t be a big name like Jake/Tom Cruise/John Travolta/Queen Latifah (I guess she’s a-list). Maybe it’ll be Jo from the Facts of LIfe, or Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains (altho, that would be great because of his Bible-thumping ways).
A Gurl Can Dream, Can't She??
Oh, my fantasy dream list (But only if I could be “theirs”) would be Chris Evans, Sean William Scott, Jake G, and Hugh Jackman.
I can dream, cant’ I??

“”But it is not about how big the celebrity is. It’s really about the storytelling.””
So in other words it’s a bunch of people nobody has ever heard of, or who haven’t been famous for 20 years.
Sapphocrat
And I’m going to watch a show starring the mouthpiece for Doug “$125K to Prop H8” Manchester… why, exactly?
jason
The faceless Hollywood agents won’t allow their actors to come out. Maybe we can have a show which names and shames these agents.
TheInsider
Is Anderson Cooper the first guest?

OMG!! Are we finally going to find out if Richard Simmons is actually Gay??? :p

Sounds like a dud. After Bragman’s last big coming out party for a country music star that virtually no one had heard of (unless you’re a die hard country fan, maybe?), and trying to kickstart her one-hit wonder career (which never did catch flight), I won’t hold my breath. I think the show will be full of C/D list actors and actresses of yesteryear. I can’t imagine anyone current or of A/B list status coming out on a reality tv show. It will be celebrities that barely have a celebrity pulse. I suppose we’ll see!
