Sir Ian McKellen and his festive cowboy shirt stopped by Anderson Cooper‘s soon-to-be-defunct gaytime talk show Anderson Live, where the silver fox asked The Hobbit star if there were any negative consequences to his coming-out, to which McKellen responded:
“I’ve never meta gay person who’s regretted coming out.”
The actor and gay rights activist noted that although much progress has been made, it wasn’t so long ago that making love was breaking the law:
“I was making love until I was about 30 with my live-in boyfriend and we were breaking the law every time we had sex. Breaking the law. We could have been arrested. I had friends who were put in prison for it.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
We’ve had friends who were put in prison for it too, but that’s a story for another website entirely.

I am sorry Anderson’s show won’t be returning and I hope he will have a few more opportunities to focus on LGBT issues before it ends.
