Idina Menzel decided “Let It Go” was the best response to John Travolta’s Adele Dazeem Oscar fumble. Last week the Richard Rodgers Theatre was buzzing with excitement when Menzel took the stage and said “I started thinking about what my life would be like if I had never met you” at the start of the new hit musical If/Then. This original Broadway musical reunites Tom Kitt (music), Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics), and Michael Greif (director), the creative team behind the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning musical, Next to Normal.

If/Then follows two distinct story lines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in this city of infinite possibilities. Menzel is joined by another Tony Award-winner, LaChanze (The Color Purple), Anthony Rapp, James Snyder (Cry-Baby), Jerry Dixon (tick, tick…Boom!, Once On This Island), Jenn Colella (Chaplin, High Fidelity), Jason Tam (A Chorus Line, Lysistrata Jones), Tamika Lawrence (Matilda), and Jackie Burns (Wicked).
