If Having Steady Employment Makes You Happy, Congratulations, You’ll Live Longer

So here are two new data points I’d like to, perhaps excruciatlingly, link together: The U.S. jobless rate declined 8.9 percent last month, which means “only” 13.67 million people are trying to find work but cannot. That’s a big deal because it’s been since April 2009 that the rate has been at 9% or above. Meanwhile, a meta study of 160 studies concludes there is “clear and compelling evidence” that happier people live longer, which your mental positively more heavily linked to your lifespan than even obesity. Which means: If you’re miserable because you can’t find a job, don’t worry, because you won’t be around much longer to sulk.
