Every time we assume we’ve heard the last illogical rational for banning same-sex marriage, a new surprise files in. When the Baltimore Sun opened up to readers the idea of Maryland recognizing out-of-state same-sex marriages, just like Washington D.C. agreed to do, reader Tony Jordan offered this rebuttal: “Glad to see that The Sun is so enamored of recognizing laws enacted in other states like drivers licensing and marriage laws. Will you be supporting the recognition of out-of-state CCW permits — (Concealed weapons carry laws) with the same fervor as the same sex marriage laws that you are touting in the Sunday Sun? After all it would affect a lot of people and it is a constitutional issue.”

If You OK Out-Of-State Gay Marriages, You Need to OK Out-Of-State Gun Permits

Well, yes, actually I would. (Unless the state issuing the permit says otherwise, of course, which, not having one, I don’t know about)

You have to make the link between public safety being adversely affected by gay marriage.
TANK
Then we should have the full lobbying force of the NRA at our disposal.

Haha – you Americans and your guns! So cute!
osocubano
But of course. We all know marriage leads to murder.
HYHYBT
@osocubano: Well, it *is* cheaper than divorce…

LOL. Good luck with that.
This is funnier than the Catholic/Feminist anti-porn coalition.
I’d love to be a fly on the wall of that first meeting, especially when the good old boys start things off with a moment of prayer.

… on the upside, you can break the ice by bitching about what Barack Obama hasn’t done for you this week.

Really? Seriously? I not against gun by any means… but really? I hate stupid logic
Kevin@BGFH
It’s an apples and oranges argument. The difference here is that EVERY state recognizes other states’ heterosexual marriages. If a straight couple moved from Vermont to Maryland, they would not have to remarry. It’s about equality. If Maryland is going to recognize SOME marriages from other states, they should recognize ALL marriages from other states.
The Gay Numbers
I like the way everyone is trying to actual debate the stupid arguments. It’s sophistry. They don’t care if the arguments make sense. They are designed to confuse and manipulate rather than make sense.

@The Gay Numbers:
Sure, you party pooper.
Go ahead and ruin the best joke material we’ve had on here all day.
Achmed
Stupid arguments? What part of full faith and credit are you not getting? You want all states to recognize your marriage license, but you don’t want all states to recognize concealed carry permits. In other words, you want the full recognition of your rights across the board, but you’re cool with denying other people their rights because you think those rights are icky and scary. The irony is thick…

@Achmed:
So I was wrong….
There are still a few laughs left to squeeze out of this story.

@TANK: Check out Pink Pistols, a gay gun rights organization. They get help from the NRA often.
