“If you want that lifestyle, don’t make my tax dollars pay for it, and don’t make me teach it to my children.” —Alexandria Coronado, president of Orange County’s Board of Education, on a proposal to support Harvey Milk Day. Last week, the board voted unanimously to oppose it. Oh, did we mention Ms. Coronado insists she has gay friends? Name them, please.
Good God. I call this county home, too. Forgive me, Bea Arthur, for I know not what I do.
That’s great, then don’t take the tax dollars of gays and lesbians who are not planning on having children to support schools where her children attend. Or better yet, any people not with children, give them a tax break as well.
@thecanuck: Well said.
Fine then don’t tax me for your schools and no public money, land etc… will be allowed to support any activity that in any way pushes your views of religeon on people…fair trade?
Lifestyle? Isnt that like living in Orange County and going to a mega-church, and driving a capitalist SUV, and hanging out at Fashion Island in Newport Beach??
Lifestyle? Isnt when my husband gets fired for loving the same man for twenty years.
I dont live a Lifestyle. I live a involuntary prison sentence, with good taste, of course.
Make more money of us….come on….its the only thing youre good at, the misery of others for your benefit
Let me tell that snatch, i would rather not have ‘MY tax dollars defend legislation that is homophobic and designed to work against me and my children. Thanks Doma
I hope she reads the NYTimes magazing article this coming weekend about out and gay middle school students in america’s heartland. I can’t stand orange county; it’s so fake!
So, does anybody know how much more time the governator has until he has to announce whether he’ll sign or veto?
If someone wants to smoke all of their life, that’s fine. But don’t use my tax dollars to keep them alive well past their expiration date. But, I don’t have a choice in that matter. And even though I said it, and even though the sentiment is somewhat valid, I personally don’t espouse it. Though there are plenty of teabaggers who probably do.
It’s possible she *had* gay friends until she opened her mouth.
I wouldn’t want my gay tax dollars propping up the Board of Education, honey.
There are MANY things that this woman’s tax dollars pay for that you wouldn’t exactly call “Christian Approved”
