This is Belinda Sanchez. She’s a lesbian senior at Proviso East High School in Illinois, who came out as a freshman. And after her principal Milton Patch told Sanchez she could not wear a tuxedo to her own prom on April 22, she’s now got clearance to wear whatever the hell she wants after the ACLU reminded the school it could either let Sanchez wear a tux, or spend a few hundred thousand dollars in court costs (and an eventual settlement) defending the right to dictate gender norms. FWIW, the Proviso Township School District insists it agreed to let Sanchez wear the tux before the ACLU got involved after she asked administrators to reevaluate Patch’s decision.

Just another media whore looking for a reality show…how is this helping gay rights again when you just want to be the center of attention…all the girls should wear a tuxedo to this event…..

Isn’t it a bit of a cliche – the whole lesbian in a tux deal. Frankly, no woman, gay or straight, looks good in a tux, in fact, they look ridiculous.
