Congratulations to India’s Bobby from Manipur, crowned Super Queen over the weekend in the country’s first transgender beauty pageant, organized by trans activist Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi. Bobby took home a prize worth about $17,000, beating out 17 competitors, and says, “Since my childhood I used to think of participating in beauty pageants meant for us. When I came to know about this contest, I participated. I had done no preparation for this; what all I knew, I just focused on that throughout the whole contest. I have not gone through any specific training for this.” Well done, ladies.

Don’t get mad, Uki, Queerty is just always looking for angles to incite discussion. It’s mindless.

@ Uki
Pageants are exploitative, duh, and they’re also events one can indifferently reflect upon. The phrases “Congratulations” and “well done ladies” are hardly dramatic endorsements.
In India, Like Iran, they like their gay men dolled up. That’s the bigger problem. Please consider the third dimension when criticizing something? :):):) :/

Great job queerty, for giving a huge bias on your news from this pageant in India, and the one some time ago from Indonesia.
You call this pageant great, while you call the pageant from Indonesia: “a little bit of exploiting them”
Queerty now is OUT of my RSS feed. For being discriminative.
