We’ve always had loose guidelines about posting comments on Queerty. Now, some definitive rules. Let all your questions be answered! They’re pretty easy, though. Rule No. 1: Don’t be a dickwad. [Queerty’s Comment Policy]

Okay I didn’t want to be first…but I’ll likely forget to post tomorrow. Just saying a big THANK YOU!

Queerty wouldn’t have had to issue rules if it hadn’t been a dickwad on occasion. Here’s to hoping Queerty cleans up its act and drops the adolescent practice of provocation.

The rules are not at all unreasonable.
Basically, do unto others and you would have them do unto you.
I’m not a religious person, but that is a policy I can easily live with. Someone once said, I can’t recall who, “Freedom rides best in harness.” Otherwise, it’s just a free-for-all.
Thanks, Japhy.

No name calling? That’s the only way that Afrolito and I know how to express love for one another. Why does Queerty insist on butting into our relationship?

There is one problem i have with this otherwise decent rules of behavior.
The blanket banning calls to militancy (violence if you will) is plain wrong. There are times that violence is a necessary tool of self defence and moving the struggle for freedom and equality forward.
Gays are a minority that is increasingly victimized by emboldened right wingers and the religious. Nothing would please me more than to have read that that young gay woman who was raped in the East Bay had pulled out a gun and wasted her attackers. while nothing is more pathetic then people ‘protecting the Castro with whistles that get blown when somebody is already being attacked. I suspect that if a crowd descended on a gay bas her and broke several limbs, a collar bone and and a jaw, the level of anti gay violence would dramatically go down.
If you study the history of the 60’s, it was the riots and the Black Panthers and SDS that drove all the significant movements of the day. The non-violent civil rights movement came AFTER and was an attempt to deflect the growing popularity of the militants.
Much as I disagree with certain elements of the anti-war movement, it was they who militantly took over the universities and galvanized the attention of the public.
I wont even go into the labor struggles of the 20’s and 30’s and the role of militancy in winning those fights.
Nothing was so disturbing to me then to see photos of Martin Luther King on his knees in front of a like of cops and attack dogs.
Stonewall. Do I have to remind anyone about the key role of violence in establishing our rights to self defence and to just be left the f*@k alone?
These are the realities of any struggle for freedom and equality.
If you place blanket ban on discussions of militancy and violence you will quickly wind up on the wrong side of the struggle when it boils over.

This site is about news, discussion, and sometimes half nekkid bodies….
This site isn’t about cutting people down, spewing hate, or playing playground politics.
Bravo Queerty. You should have a big red button that people have to press on that brings up the rule before they get to the main site. lol.

You’re right. Queerty doesn’t just suck, it swallows like a pro.

Queerty is hugely improved and continues to get better.

I think the rules have more to do with protecting Queerty and staff from insult (due to what is increasingly becoming a sad shadow of what this site once was). It has little to do with the attacks (which are sad, I agree) on each other.

A good move overall. Prior to Mr. Grant’s tenure, the dickwad ratio was much higher here than on other lgbt blogs. Much better now.

Queerty, you don’t bring me Flowers…..anymore, anyhow or anytime!
Written by Neil Diamond, Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman and Seitan-On-A-Stick
You don’t bring me flowers…without thorns attached
You don’t sing me love songs….or always post my comments
You hardly talk to me anymore…when I tap on the Starbucks window on 8th Avenue
When you come through the door…you no longer hold your stomach in
At the end of the day, you throw down your gay rags
I remember when Belonsky had a brain
You couldn’t wait to love me…with your Editorial furor
Used to hate to leave me…hanging on your blue-commented square
Now after lovin’ me late at night…at the Unicorn’s back stall
When it’s good for you, we’ll Proof it and respond in Kind
And you’re feeling alright…about your current job this week
Well you just roll over……my Gay Rights!
And you turn out the light….so you don’t have to look at David Hauslaib
And you don’t bring me flowers anymore…except thorns from Proflowers (I heard they were good!)
It used to be so natural….without a glove
To talk about forever….or until the HIV meds
But ‘used to be’s’ don’t count anymore, Mister President!
They just lay on the floor….on Santa Monica Boulevard
‘Til we sweep them away….like a veteran of Stonewall
And baby, I remember….some of us are wiser
All the things you taught me….I had already known
I learned how to laugh…..at your fragile ego
And I learned how to cry….for your editorial gaffes
Well I learned how to love…Queerty’s vomit-ty look
Even learned how to lie….about how smart you think you are
You’d think I could learn….to not stick a needle in your eye
How to tell you goodbye…..You are the Weakest Link!
‘Cause you don’t bring me flowers anymore…even when I die laughing at racist queens and straight Obama payroll teams!
Ed
“What’s so funny about peace love and understanding?”
Not one for being the dickwad but if I’ve offended anyone by a post then here’s a heartfelt apology.
Peace in ’09!

Do you mean Israel out of Gaza? US out of Iraq? Straights out of our bedrooms? Just want to know where to shoot that daisy out the cannon?

Way to go QUEERTY! There has been so much anger on this site lately it is great you are addressing it.
