"One man arrested in a public sex sting, backed by Lambda Legal, is suing the city of Johnson City, Tennessee along with its police chief for releasing pictures, names and addresses of himself and 39 other men arrested in the sting, along with the charges they faced, to the media. The October 2007 release, one of about 600 reviewed by Lambda, was the only one to include photographs, and also the only one to be personally approved by Johnson City Police Chief John Lowry." I don't agree with these police policies clearly intended to shame and humiliate. But, it is a risky illegal activity so you should know what you are getting into if caught. I don't agree with George Michael, it is not "Part of our culture". It is an underground holdover from the days when we all had to get married and seek out dangerous trysts on the sly.

im known for being a "superficial, bitchy queen" round these parts, but now i will share some of my wisdom…

this is NOT a gay or straight issue. this is an issue of morals and ethics. one must question whether trolling public toilets and parks for sex, where young children regularly visit, is moral/ethical. the universal answer is no.

when i go the toilet, i go for the sole purpose it is intended for. i do not want some perve peering through a peep hole while im taking a shit – and its happened before much to my anger.

the fact is, everyone should keep their sex lives in the bedroom – or in a legal sex-on-premises venue and not down in the local park where timmy and sarah are playing chasey.

If you're going to have sex in public places, it's your fault when you get busted and publicly humiliated. For fuck sakes, this shit is exactly what the bumpkin fucktards in the religious right movement expect from us and we need to be better than that.

I agree mostly and disagree a little with all three posts so far but MOST IMPORTANT in my view are two things:

1. These photos and charges were displayed BEFORE the people were convicted

2. Whether they were convicted or not, do the police post EVERYONE's photos and charges???

sorry – on #2 above I meant do the police post names and photos of every other charge, every other ticket, every other offense; not just the Gay men?
