Iraqi Gays Face Threat of ‘Glued Anuses’

gluegun

And here we thought the murder of gay Iraqis would get the U.S. government to blink. How about the torture of gay Iraqis?

Buoying the theory that it’s the “anal sex” part of being gay that really infuriates homophobes, Iraqi militants are reportedly gluing shut the anuses of suspected gays. Repeat: Gluing shut their anuses. With a glue so resilient, you need surgery to remove it. This is not a time for jokes about having to take a shit (we’re looking at you, Bill O’Reilly). This is torture, and some 60 men have already been attacked with it.

And yet, while the U.S. spends billions every month on Iraqi operations, there’s no attention, let alone resources, going toward defending these folks. Translating from the news network Al Arabiya:

A prominent Iraqi human rights activist says that Iraqi militia have deployed a painful form of torture against homosexuals by closing their anuses using ‘Iranian gum.’ … Yina Mohammad told Alarabiya.net that, ‘Iraqi militias have deployed an unprecedented form of torture against homosexuals by using a very strong glue that will close their anus.’ According to her, the new substance ‘is known as the American hum, which is an Iranian-manufactured glue that if applied to the skin, sticks to it and can only be removed by surgery. After they glue the anuses of homosexuals, they give them a drink that causes diarrhea. Since the anus is closed, the diarrhea causes death.

Videos of this form of torture are being distributed on mobile cellphones in Iraq.’ According to this human rights activist, for the past 3 weeks a crackdown on homosexuals has been going on based on a religious decree that demands their death; dozens have been targeted. She says that the persecution of homosexuals is not confined to the Shiite clerics. Some Sunni leaders have also declared the death penalty for sodomy on satellite channels.

Well, thank God that Christian America was able to export democracy to Iraq. I know I certainly feel better about all the money we spent and all the young lives we lost.

      @AJ:
You didn’t do it for them at all.
You did it for yourselves, or more specifically, your oil interests.

It was George Bush’s greatest goal and his worst fuck-up all in one. After all, the U.S. helped keep Saddam in there for the longest time as a strong man to protect their interests.

Did they honestly think they could just remove him, make things democratic and then people would automatically vote for the American Way?

The Iraqi war was a bad idea from the get go. I feel so sorry for the gay people living there. Unfortunately for their survival they should pretend to be heterosexual and try to leave the country. I also agree with htfaul that the glue gun image is repulsive. Can’t you have any sympathy for the lives of gay people in muslim populated countries?

Unfortunately we don’t have the freedom to boycott the transferral of billions of our tax dollars to Iraq. We don’t have to buy Red Stripe, or books from Amazon, but we have no choice about supporting our government’s insane global imperialism with the money we work our asses off for every day. This is where that money’s going, and we either pay up or go to jail for tax evasion.

Shocking. The men who perpetrate these human rights violations…they only respond to force or threats of it. That’s the only way to get them to change their behavior. It’s all that they understand…violence and force.

The problem with this phony baloney creation of League of Nations bureaucrats, European cartographers, and Wilsonian naifs is the religion they have been spoon-fed since birth. It teaches them that it’s okay to kill gays because their pedophile “prophet” said so.

At least Obama is keeping 50,000 troops there indefinitely.

God laid down in the Ten Commandments “THOU SHALT NOT KILL”

And yet people like you conveniently forget one of the ten fundamental commandments as brought down from Mt Sinai by Moses, and written by THE HAND OF GOD, in favour of some shite postulated by MEN and published in Liviticus.

Nowhere within the Ten Commandments is ANYTHING written against homosexuals, unless you want to misconstrue the one about coveting thy neighbour’s ass.

You, pdquesnell, are the kind of religious zealot who will wonder, after the day of judgement, why you are burning in the fires of hell.

And the ironic thing about this “method” is, not all gay men even practice sodomy, while plenty of straight people DO. They really can’t get past Teh Buttsex, even when it’s not even happening.

It truly does sicken me that humanity can still dig so deep as to perform such acts of cruelty and barbarism. Religion does have so much to answer for.
But this is the reason why we must be out, why we must hold hands I public and not be ashamed of who we are.
Only through being visible can our countries recognize us and then with our support tackle the horrible acts of violence on gay men and women around the world.

Good to be an American. Sucks to be an Iraqi. Honestly, I’ve gotten over giving a damn about what happens in other countries to other people. It sucks that they have to deal with this, but it in no way involves me. It might be selfish as hell, but its not my job to make sure that people in other places are treated fairly. Its my job to make sure that I’m treated fairly in this country.

      Jamie,

You couldn’t be more wrong. The reason we got out of Vietnam was because hordes of protesters in every city were protesting it which made it pretty hard for the press to gloss over it and the government to spin it. The problem is that we honestly believe we are doing a disservice to our men and women in arms if we protest today which couldn’t be further from the truth. The real truth is we just don’t care to protest and have our rights heard. It takes work and we like complacency, and until it happens in our own backyard we aren’t going to stand up and get noticed.

I was a very naughty child, good thing that Christ fulfilled the stupidity of the law that you mention, because I know I should have been stoned (and not in the good way). Get over yourself.
