This is pure joy of life, people offering their love of a great song, a great show and a great venue for communication. There is nothing more than fun and love in these reenactments.

Gosh, the “singing bears” are so damn hilarious.

I agree with DLPCA 100%

They’re just having fun.. there’s really no justification in putting them down. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it?

Do we really have to “claim” Glee? Isn’t it assumed?

Anywho, Bitter Brickman, the show will do just fine as long as it doesn’t sink down to Betty Season Two level.

I actually found it to be very hot especially the guy in the middle :)

I usually don’t find men doing stuff like that sexy or hot but I think the having the beard and not being all glam helped.

Oh yeah, because Glee-Club, singing, dancing, and show chior have always prevented gays from joining. And now we’re TAKING THEM AWAY FROM STRAIGHT PEOPLE!

As for gays taking shows away, sorry there cupcake, Ugly Betty is about the fasion industry….it was gayer than a manbag full of taffeta from day one. But I have to ask you, the fact that you love Glee and Ugly Betty….well I’m just saying, is there maybe something you need to tell your parents?

OMG I just realized that most of the vids have the signature “gay” guy LOL, except for the one where all three are gay, where you see the two AA chicks dance (then again we have to remember the relationship between back and gays, by no means am I saying those chicks have something against), and the last vid with all three chicks (maybe christian, then again if they’re watching Glee not so much, I’d judt like to think the one in the middle is transgender, just to feel better, lol)

And yeas the guy on the right was all lame from the three “bears”
but the other two compensated :)

I forgot to add in the fact that you are hanging out on a gay blog, in addition to being a huge fan of Ugly Betty and Glee…..you’re SURE there isn’t a big announcement you’re preparing to give your family this holiday season?

How sad! And to think we spent 40 years fighting for gay rights so that we could mimic tragic songs. How utterly, utterly sad.

Luke,

Maybe so. But I find it utterly depressing that we’ve devolved to mimicry and all-round tragedy. How on earth did we end up like this?

Truly, we’re no better than anyone else. Our once-precious gay community has become a combination of female impersonators, misogynists, self-loathers, porn-addicts and drug-addicts.

I should have jumped off this bus years ago. We’re heading for a major fall.

@Alan Brickman @Jason

You guys are perfect for each other.

@Jarvisbearcub

Sorry, but to me, they’ll always be the glittery bears of YouTube. Besides aren’t otters just a subgenre of bear culture. Before you know it, there’ll be a whole forest of woodland creatures to differentiate between.

@DLPCA

You said it best. The word is “Joy” or is it “Glee?” After all, isn’t all this struggle about being oneself. So if homeboy wants to grow a beard and dance with a couple of hot sylvan types in lip-syncing bliss to a Motown classic and upload it to the world, then AMEN!

The only sad thing going on with THIS thread is for other gay dudes to hint they should be ashamed about it.

you sad sad little man

you don’t think gay men 40 years ago wouldn’t have done this if they had a chance? FFS theyre having fun. Get off your ‘high’ horse and just accept that yeah, a lot of gay guys (and straight for that matteR) like dancing around and being silly.

Gays have been fighting for freedom allt hese years. You saying that this is bad is YOU taking away that freedom once again.

Sam and others,

Freedom in itself is not a complete virtue. A complete virtue is when you exercise freedom towards an empowering choice. If the empowering choice isn’t there, you’re not really getting anywhere.

We’ve truly degraded ourselves with an overly cavalier approach to life, our disguised misogyny, and our obsessions with sex parties and drugs.

Jason,

Taking your argument that freedom can only be made virtue through the employment of empowering choice as a given truth:

It could be argued that doing this kind of song and dance is empowering for them. One man’s degradation may well be another’s empowerment. Yes, moral relativism rears its ugly head, but I note in your tone a sense of superiority – as if you know what’s good for “us”, and we, sadly, do not. At the risk of going to far, Hitler thought he knew what was good for “us” too.

That said, I’m sure you’re no Hitler. But in order for people to consider your side, you should tell us what your opinion of “empowering choices” include. You might alter people’s perspective of you in ways they weren’t expecting.

That said, speak for yourself. The last graf seems like you’re projecting you’re own negative self-perception onto others. I bet you could hear a hundred stories here of how a certain drug or sex party experience was empowering … just as much as you could hear another hundred say how a particular drug or sex party experience was degrading. In the end, it’s all about context. What’s yours?

That all said, I was wondering from whom or where you drew your original freedom-virtue-choice relationship? What particular philosophical school of thought do you espouse?

-Jim

Well, I watched most of the videos, and every one of them put a smile on my face. This is what the TV show is all about–after all, there’s a reason it’s called “Glee”, folks (besides the glee club part, of course). So let’s just let these people have a good time with their video cameras and go on with our lives.

BTW, I thought the lead bear was really adorable…perhaps even kinda hot. That is all.

@Jason … you’re blathering. Embarrassingly so.

This video isn’t about drugs. Or sex. Or misogyny. Its a bunch of people having fun dancing to a fun song having a good time. How is that not a liberating or empowering choice?

Posted: Oct 17, 2009 at 2:10 am · @ReplyReply to this comment · [Flag?]

And, why on earth does every single act HAVE to be ‘empowering’? Becuase we (or they) are gay or whatever, must we 24/7 be serious douchebags running around trying to prove something? It’s frankly ridiculous.

Kittens, this world is a harsh place. Forging one’s path through life is hard enough, gay or straight. Anything that provides a little lighthearted laughter and joy in this world is a worthy pursuit.
