At one point you couldn't be blamed for thinking her acknowledgment of being intersexed was just a publicity stunt to drive up her Twitter mentions. Supposedly, Ms. Gaga blogged this on the matter: "It’s not something that I’m ashamed of, just isn’t something that I go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female. It’s just a little bit of a penis and really doesn’t interfere much with my life. The reason I haven’t talked about it is that it’s not a big deal to me. Like come on. It’s not like we all go around talking about our vags. I think this is a great opportunity to make other multiple gendered people feel more comfortable with their bodies. I’m sexy, I’m hot. I have both a poon and a peener. Big f*cking deal."
But then she appeared panty-less at an ourdoor concert (anyone know which one?), and gave away the store. The video, its posters claim, is "unedited."

One of the genitalia is adjusted, usually the male, and then they grow up to be a female. I find "story" to be just another spectacle. Technically, she could have Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia which occurs in genetic females and results in an enlarged clitoris that looks like a small penis.

Actually this practice is slowly being abolished since the doctors usually decided which gender the person would grow up as based on which surgery would be easier for them to preform on a technically level.
Naturally that ended up in a lot of intersex people having to grow up as the wrong gender and causing them to feel even more distress than it were left alone. It's now encouraged to leave the decision what is to be done surgically to the child once they are a teenager. Anyone interested in this subject should read "As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised as a Girl", to gain further understanding on this subject.

…There are "straight" people who have problems with the gender/sex/social boxes they are expected to follow and need support. It also puts all humans onto the same level (whether they admit it or not).
Interesting things from that clip:
1. Her clothing, getting off the bike at the start was clearly choreographed. She also knew exactly where the BBC cameras were. Many of her fans would have seen even more than we can here. her comment "…what these festivals are all about is suffering for your love of music…"
2. She then referenced taking her top off at an Iggy Pop concert. Iggy Pop is famous for performing with his penis out. Her mentioning taking her top off gets the audience shouting 'Off' (as in take it off). She mentions streaking with Lady Starlight (who seems to be male-to-female transsexual), but being too embaressed to tell Iggy Pop when she saw him later – an interesting comment on the public/performance versus private/real-life persona.
3. Leaning on her guitarist: "…there's only one thing that I really, really hate… cause hates a really strong word isn't it.. yeah …but I realy really hate money honey. I don't want your money. Keep your money don't give it to me."
Why is this relevant to anything? What is the connection? This could be taken to be a comment about hatred of trans-sexuals and/or anyone who is not considered 'normal'. She is willing to end her career by finally 'coming out' by flashing her 'penis' (like Iggy Pop) because she doesn't want our money she wants our love and respect. Note as her says "hate" her guitarist traces the heart on his t-shirt, which is a kind of miming of "I really really *love* money" but then look at his messed up make up.
As he starts to play, Lady Gaga lifts up his shirt to expose one of his nipples. Again is this a kind of 'reverse' reference?
All a coincidence? Lady Gaga pays massive amounts of attention to her appearance and dancing. The film was being coordinated by the BBC wih multiple cameras. Both the BBC and Glastonbury are progressive/liberal organisations and it is very possible that the whole thing was deliberately planned and edited (the BBC Three footage is edited and not broadcast live). Other venues or broadcasters could have shoved a camera right up her skirt and deliberately sensationalised/tabloidised the whole thing. In fact there is a rapid cut between three different cameras (headshot from right, body-length from stage left, and up-skirt from below the stage) but the BBC rapidly cut away from the upskirt – in other words the clip has been expertly edited afterwards to provide a brief 'flash'.
Lady Gaga has promised to do something at the VMAs:
"I know it will be a defining moment. I sort of have this philosophy about things: there's never a reason to do something unless it's going to be memorable, unless it's going to change things, unless it's going to inspire a movement. With the song and with the performance, I hope to say something very grave about fame and the price of it."
….at the moment there is only a very short clip from the VMAs YouTube but GaGa covered in blood = the media/society demanding she gets 'the snip' before she is considered a 'real woman'? In her video for 'papparatsi' she 'hit rock bottom' after candid sex snaps (and being thrown off balcony by a 'disgusted' lover) it was only after surgery, then 'killing her man' at the end of the video that she was accepted back…

I don't know why everyone is getting so shook up about this. People are born intersexed (hermaphrodite) all the time. It is just not spoken about often and most parents decide for the baby to go female. In the case of Lady Gaga, from what she has stated, the male part was so insignificant I guess they did nothing. It can be a dangerous operation. With DNA testing now, they can find out the predominant sex but the easier operation is female and some parents opt for that anyway. Sigourney Weaver is also intersexed and had the operation as a baby. No biggy.
