Is Paul Reubens Too Gay to Play Pee-wee Herman On Broadway?

That’s one question Newsweek‘s associate editor-cum-theater critic Ramin Setoodeh will have a chance to answer, since The Pee-wee Herman Show is headed to Broadway after commercial success in Los Angeles. But if Paul Reubens isn’t playing a sexual character, but rather an over-sized kid, does that change things? Today’s secret word is … stupid arguments!

Did Paul Reubens come out as gay? I remember the arrest that killed his career, but I don’t recall that it had something to do with another man. I thought it was for jerking off in an adult movie theatre.
