Is Randy Altschuler The Latest ‘Family Values’ Republican That Ken Mehlman Is Helping Elect?

Randy Altschuler, the Republican nominee facing off against incumbent Rep. Tim Bishop in New York, won big on Tuesday night with 46 percent of the vote — 16 points ahead of the closest competition. So now it’s time to drum up some cash so Randy has a chance to help the GOP take the House in November, right? Look who’s helping out the “pro-family values” candidate: Ken Mehlman, who’s co-hosting a Sept. 27 fundraiser. And while it’s difficult to find Altschuler’s positions on things like marriage equality and DADT, might it be safe to assume the newly out Mehlman is continuing his practice of helping bankroll anti-gay Republicans? Then again, there’s also this accusation that Altschuler is willing to change his mind on social issues like abortion whenever the time is right.

And before your gaydar goes off in this February video, remember Altschuler is a married father. If that matters.
