@daleandersen: They only file opinions on Mondays (Tuesday in the case of a holiday) and Thursdays.

But it's official. The court's website was updated a few minutes ago saying the opinion would be released Tuesday morning.

No ruling today. It'll probably be tomorrow. Or more likely, the weekend...

There are basically three days left that they could issue the ruling, unless they extend it for some reason. Those would be Tuesday 5/26 (Monday is a holiday) Thursday 5/28 or Monday 6/1. Thursday 6/4 would be the 91st day since the hearing.

They were prepared to release it, but Gavin Newsom requested they hold off due to Thursday being the anniversary of the White Night riots. And well, if the ruling isn't what we want, that's like adding insult to injury.

So expect the court to release it on Monday, which is the next possible day for issuing rulings.

@HYHYBT: The Court rules, which the Supreme Court formulates, states that decisions must be handed down within 90 days. However, since they are the ones writing the rules, they could grant themselves an extension, but this rarely, if ever, happens.

I really hope they won't divorce Paul from his husband, or any of the other couples that got married, thousands of them, or any couples that still want to get married in the future, probably even more than the thousands allready married.

It feels so strange and wrong that someone can just put up a vote to make certain marriages illegal.
"yeah eh, sorry girls but you two can't get married, there's a law agains that you know"

...

WHAT??? :-O :-S

It's so surreal and infuriating that I booked a planeticket from Amsterdam to LAX to join the protests after I heard about 8 passing. Off course that was a wave of insanity, not like my presence would help, but angry people do not always do the smart thing.

It has to be overturned!
It just can't be... *stands totally flabbergasted*

We've had gay marriage since I was in 6th grade and I remember being surprised when I heard it on the news, I asked my mother "why did they do that? Couldn't gay people get married before today?" [insert stunned 10y/o girl face]

It's crazy, what century was it again?[/emotional rant]

comeooon people, Judges, if you happen to read this; prettyplease with sugar on top?

I do not have a good feeling about Prop 8 being overturned. Hopefully the Supremes won't forcibly divorce me and my husband.
