Like Katherine Heigl before him, it looks like TR Knight’s plan to publicly air his eagerness to leave Grey’s Anatomy backfired, since (also like Heigl) he now seems perfectly willing to stick with the ABC show. Other offers drying up, perhaps? Too bad, because (ugh, also like Heigl) producers aren’t doing much to clue Knight in on whether they want to keep him around. (Spoilers ahead.)
Even though Knight was said to be looking for an exit on his own, the car crashing actor doesn’t know whether that wish will be granted. But exec producer Shonda Rhimes plans to keep him, and audiences, in the dark as Grey’s heads into the season finale. Reports Michael Ausiello:
Now, as I first reported in Ask Ausiello, his wish may be granted by an upcoming story line that finds (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT) George marching off to war as an Army medic. Just as the season wraps up, George gets injured in the line of duty, leaving his fate up in the air for viewers — and even Knight himself. “T.R. doesn’t know whether George lives or dies,” explains a source close to the show. “And, as a result, he doesn’t know whether or not he has to come back next season.”
Legally speaking, Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes has until mid-June to decide whether to drop Knight — and all indications are she will use every last second of that time. Some are suggesting she may be forcing Knight to sweat it out as payback for wanting to jump ship. (The two have had a strained relationship since the Isaiah Washington blowup in 2006.) While Knight’s rep and Rhimes both declined to comment, a Grey’s insider scoffs at such a notion. “At the end of the day, Shonda is going to do what’s best for the show,” maintains the source. “Everything else is just idle gossip.”

Well, his character hasn’t had a storyline in about two seasons, so I’m not sure most viewers would notice one way or the other.

So now you’ve told Knight and Heigl are going anywhere you journalist with your constant you have to lie some more, suck!! It be said once you lied you it will never stop because you have to lie some more to cover up your first lie, got it. You people are like a cry wolf and I can never believe what you journalist wrote anymore.

Unfortunately for TR, this situation falls under the “Who gives a flying f***” category for most of us. Nice guy, cute boyfriend, and an actor’s ego/attitude that needs damage control.

@Jack Scribe: You said it all…..and the cute boyfriend is because of his salary, certainly not his pasty looks….

Knight would be pretty foolish to leave “Grey’s Anatomy” given the state of TV and film industry. What real options does he have? He’s a character actor. NBC is cutting 5 hours of programming from its schedule. Good, steady employment on a hit TV show is hard to find (as it is for most people in the U.S.). Where else would this guy find a seven figure gig?
How many actors have been famous for one series but disappear after that show ends or they think they can do better by leaving. Look at the cast of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel,” “Star Trek” or a hundred other shows. The successful series ends and many of the actors never find similar success even though they are talented as all heck.

@blake: hahaha i love how you cited buffy!!
but angel- david boreanaz is now in bones, and Alyson Hannigan is HIMYM, Sara Michelle was in some movies… but i think if an actor is talented and driven, they’ll resurface.

SMG is filming a new show for HBO I think. And Spike from Buffy was on Torchwood.
