It Only Cost $150 for a Home Tour of Paul Colichman's New 9-Bedroom Manse

millcolichPaul Colichman, the chief executive of Regent/Here Media, is the nice guy who on Sunday opened his home to raise money for the AIDS Project Los Angeles (whose annual AIDS walk just raised $3.1 million). For $150, cocktail-attired guests were invited to schmooze with elite LA A-Gays and Tony-winner John Lloyd Young. But "home" is too delicate a word to describe the new Bel Air mansion Colichman just moved in to with partner David Millbern (pictured together), the Ice Spiders (?) actor. You're welcome to send your housewarming gift to 290 Strada Corta Road (a publicly available address), because this fall the duo abandoned their four-bedroom/six-bath 4,550-square foot squatters camp at 10450 Revuelta Way in Los Angeles, which they rented for an estimated $10,000/month, to their new 26-room (nine beds! eight baths!), 6,879-square-footer that overlooks the tony Bel Air Country club. Oh, and there's a (brand new) Maserati parked in the drive. (The new home was assessed this year at $3.5 million, though its "Zestimated" at $9.1 million.)

Because that is how gay media moguls roll!

Funnily enough, Colichman's home upgrade takes place as his own company is laying off a quarter of his company and amidst rumors that Regent Media isn't paying its staff, independent contractors (i.e. writers and photogs), or vendors (i.e. printers). Hey, that reminds us of former HX Media chief Matthew Bank, who took an Argentinian holiday as his own company was collapsing. Oh, and Window Media boss David Unger, who supposedly took a vacation to China as his company was refusing to pay rent, its printers, or its staff.

We asked Queerty publisher David Hauslaib whether, as the proprietor of a gay media company, he's also wiping his ass with C-notes. He responded, "I bought a new car a few weeks ago, after living in Los Angeles for eight months without one. Other than that, my biggest splurge is Arclight movie theater tickets." Meanwhile, Gawker Media owner Nick Denton squirrels away in a New York City loft that cost under $2 million. Peons!

I used to aspire to this kind of wealth–until all my best laid plans and goals failed miserably. Now I'm just happy being debt-free. I tell people I don't like big houses because I hate vacuuming.

Well we wanted equality, we just forget to mention that doesn't include corporate carpet bagging. Hmmm, makes me wonder how much of the 8 bucks a month a pay for HERE! (and hardly ever watch) is going to this ass.

@QJersey: Given how totally lame and low-budget the programming on HERE! is, I'd say probably a lot!

I never hold a man's house against him, especially if its a cool house. The roof doesn't have much to reveal in this respect. For what its worth, the guy has probably sunk more cash into Advocate and Out etc. than he has into that house. The house will probably end up with the better ROI.

I love that David Hauslaub's now quoting himself.

Wow. So the already underpaid Regent employees who were unceremoniously canned are now on unemployment and facing potentially losing their places of residence, and this asshat buys a nearly $10 million house? If there's any justice in the world he'll drop dead tomorrow.
