It Took A Live On-Air Stunt to Get Walter Cronkite to Care About the Gays

APPARENTLY Storming a live broadcast of CBS’s evening news is one way of getting Walter Cronkite to give a crap about his network’s censorship and air a piece on the homos.

How completely you have missed the forrest for the trees on this one. It was the early 1970′s, NO major media outlets were reporting on gay issues (or even using the word “gay”), and the article itself points to Cronkite’s genuine enlightenment and his own efforts at covering the nascent gay rights movement thereafter.

Cronkite was a man of demonstrated integrity and one of journalism’s greatest, period. With this poorly conceived item, Queerty now ranks slightly below Perez Hilton on both of these counts.

What kind of stupid children edit this shit blog anyway?

And apparently, the folks at queerty are complete assholes who don’t understand the concept of “historical context” or learning from ones own mistakes. Truly a dick move, guys.
