Italian Gays Protest Mayor’s Very Anti-Gay Statements

gentilini.jpg
Treviso, Italy mayor Giancarlo Gentilini garnered some anti-gay protest this weekend after threatening to “ethnically clean” “faggots”. In remarks on a radio show last week, Gentilini recalled Hitler’s final solution when he said,

I will immediately give orders to my forces so that they can carry out an ethnic cleansing of faggots. The faggots must go to other [places] where they are welcome. Here in Treviso there is no chance for faggots or the like.

Damn, that shit makes Fort Lauderdale mayor Jim Naugle’s robo-toilet suggestion sound like an invitation to tea.

About 1,000 people turned up in Trevio’s town square to shake a fist at Gentilini, calling for a criminal investigation and suggesting a resignation.

And, more than that, they swear to keep up the fight until Gentilini’s punished for his sin.

Gay group Arcigay’s leader, Aurelio Mancuso, swore,”Today’s protest, which is joined by hundreds of people, will not be the last. It will be the first in a long series.” Mancuso and his comrades wore pink triangles, the same symbol Hitler and his pals forced upon gays during the Holocaust.

Pedestrians weren’t the only people calling for Gentilini’s uncongenial head. Family Minister Rosy Bindi also joined the chorus against Gentilini, who’s a member of the Northern League party,

The term ‘ethnic cleansing’ evokes tragic chapters of history which have brought death and suffering to millions of people. Nobody, and certainly not somebody with public responsibility, is authorized to use such language.

Not if they don’t want to get reamed, they don’t…

Here’s the video in Italian, if you’re interested:
