This is really heart-breaking stuff. I admire Ted Kennedy much, much more than I admire anyone else in US politics today. As an Irishman, I admire his work and compassion on behalf of the thousands of undocumented Irish immigrants, and – of course – as a gay person, I absolutely admire his work and support for the gay movement. It's even more remarkable that Kennedy is from a generation that is typically very, very homophobic. I hope he returns to good health!

I may not always agree with Sen. Kennedy's politics. In fact, I very rarely do. However, I wish a man of great principle and wisdom a speedy recovery that lasts many years.
