It’s On!

Maine’s anti-gay activists are gearing up for a new battle. They’re petitioning for a referendum that will ban gay marriage, remove sexual orientation from the state’s non-discrimination laws, prohibit same-sex couples from adopting. The state voted on marriage back in 2005 and the oppressive measure failed. Let’s hope to see a repeat. [Bangor News]

It’ll never pass. I’m from Southern Maine, and my town is at least 25% lesbian. Portland is also hella gay, and there just aren’t enough people in the redneck parts of northern Maine to make up for it.

Being from Maine, I agree with Sam, it will never pass. This is the latest gambit by the League to raise money…that’s all.
However, I disagree with Sam that all of northern Maine is redneck. Having lived there with my partner, I can attest that we were treated very well…even when we lived in one of the smallest towns.
Have you even been to Aroostook, Sam? Perhaps north of Portland?
