Ja Rule And Seven Other Straight Celebs Who Have Denied Being Gay

Rapper Ja Rule (pictured) is the latest celebrity to fall victim to the gay rumor mill. The Down Ass B*tch hit maker has denied allegations that he left his wife for a man he met prison.

37-year-old Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, took to Twitter this week to clear the air, tweeting: “Ok I guess I have to address the idiots these rumors are FALSE LIES made up by some non mf factor website CLOWNS lmao…”

The rapper was released from prison back in May after serving two consecutive sentences, one for illegal gun possession and another for tax evasion. Rumors that he had fallen in love with another man behind bars were prompted by none other than his own wife, Aisha Atkins, who was quoted as saying:

“He wrote all them love songs and still don’t know how to treat a b*tch. We spent ten-plus years building our marriage but it only took him two to decide he’d rather suck a d*ck than be with his wife… He returned home alright – to get his sh*t and leave.”

Whether or not Atkins actually said this or if the quote was made up by Cream Bmp Daily blog is unclear, though it seems to have been entirely fabricated. But that didn’t stop the rumor mill from going into overdrive.

The rapper tried again to extinguish the fire by tweeting an amorous pic with his new lady love:

Of course, Ja Rule isn’t the first heterosexual celebrity to deal with gay rumors.

Scroll down to see a list of seven other allegedly straight men who have denied being gay.

Tom Cruise

The Risky Business star has dealt with gay rumors since early in his career. Many have alleged that his marriages to both Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes were arranged as coverups.

Bruno Mars

Singer Bruno Mars was the subject of gay rumors back in 2012 when a CNN iReport supposedly outed him. Shortly after the report was published, Mars’ publicist called it “completely fabricated,” disappointing gay men all across the country.

Jeremy Renner

Actor Jeremy Renner has faced gay rumors for some time. Earlier this year, he told an interviewer during a red carpet event: “I want my personal life to be personal, and it’s not f*cking true.” Meow.

John Travolta

We hesitated to include John Travola on our list of heterosexual men who have denied being gay because — well — actually, never mind. He’s not included. Forget we even mentioned him.

Kordell Stewart

Gay rumors have plagued former NFLer Kordell Stewart for years, much to the football player’s ire. The rumors were reignited back last month when his now ex-wife Porsha Stewart suggested they were true during an episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson

Best friends/One Direction bandmates Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have been rumored to be gay lovers for a while now. Both men have denied the charges, maintaining that they are “just friends.” Sadly, we think they’re telling the truth.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey became the subject of gay rumors when he developed a close friendship with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. When asked if they were an item, McConaughey joked: “We tried it. Wasn’t for us.” We were, naturally, devastated to hear this.
