We’ve got some good news and some bad news.
We’ll give you the good news first: Jake Gyllenhaal is in the market for an assistant. Like, totally a wet dream come true, right? Well, wrong. At least for most of you.
You see, rather than hiring on merit alone, the Brokeback Mountain actor has a bit of queer requirement: ladies only.
Wait, isn’t that reverse sexism?!
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Greedy little bastard. Having a beard is not enough, he also wants a hag?
Kev
That’s a violation of federal law in the U.S.
Sex is a protected class in hiring.

Please forward the information on your source for this story, Queerty. Its been a while since I’ve had a juicy piece of litigation.
Ken
It’s just common sense.
That way Jake won’t have any problem keeping his hands to himself.

It’s a Woman’s World
As if Naomi Campbell wasn’t exacting enough, now we’ve got our darling Jakey Gyllenhaal being a tad pushy, too. It’s all so treacherous these days watching celeb-ville get more and more cantankerous. Did you know Mr. G is currently looking for a new assistant? Must be all those coffee and yoga dates with Reese-love—I’m sure they’re all hell to put together, those sweaty appointments. Help is needed by the dimpled dude!
But don’t bother applying if you’re a guy. Insiders knowledgeable with the star who’s dating the chick known for always buying two calendars (in case one gets too smudgy half way through the year), say Gyllenhaal is more interested in a female assistant. Doesn’t surprise moi, really, ‘cause everybody knows men gossip more than women. Known fact, babe-cakes.

I think I would be the perfect compromise(d) applicant!

What a pile o’ crap.

He’d still get second helpings from my hand…
RyanInSacto
But what if I offer to use *both hands*? That’s two helping hands for the price of one.
RPCV
I’m sure there are many drag queens reading this site who could meet the “ladies only” requirement perfectly. Damn it! If I wanted a woman I’d be straight………..

No. 2 is correct.
If Queerty’s information is accurate (and it might not be), isn’t that job listing a violation of federal, state, and city law?
I assume he’s hiring in Los Angeles. California has some of the strictest anti-discrimination statutes in the nation. And this isn’t an acting job either, so the “casting call” exemptions don’t apply.
Puddy Katz
Odd, most girlfriends would not want their boyfriends to place such an ad.
Zac
What girlfriend?
kitty litter
Considering the source, it’s a lie so simmer down folks. Queerty, you knew the source as well why you didn’t mention in your post speaks volumes.
From all the pap pics and his inner circle, all of is PA’s are/were female unless the male PA was invisible.
Gossip Boy
There’s nothing wrong with the source.
kitty litter
Yes there is something wrong with the “source” gossip boy. As someone who has interned at E and yes that would include with Mr. Bibby, I can assure you that unless Jacob took out a want ad, there is no way he would know that he was looking for a new female PA. And please, he has no “inside” source.
Mr. Bibbiy does this and often because he knows the most important people in HW, the ones he desperately wants attention from, ignores him and his “column”, which is nothing more than rehashed “gossip” gleamed from other blogs and recycled blather from PR rags like People and Us.
He pretends otherwise but that’s what I and whatever intern he is employing this month does. The description of Jake and Reese at yoga class was directly lifted from a blog of someone that took a class with them, he changed a few things but that person did not contact Bibby with that info, his intern picked it up from a google alert, so much for his “sources”.
That blurb was done to garner attention, he doesn’t cares if it’s true or not because he will never hear from Jake’s people or the E legal team because it’s not worth responding to, in other words: BS. But in the meantime he can continue to entertain his dwindling readers with his “gossip” and even they know that he is full of shit among other things.
Alan down in Florida
Somehow it seems to me that Reese wouldn’t approve of this – especially now that he’s moved in with her (or so the tabs at the supermarket say).
Tony
Alan,
you shouldn’t believe what you read in rags.
Jake’s beard would do anything for PR.
Pepe
I had no idea that Ted Casablanca has die-hard fans like Kitty Litter.
I’m sure Ted is delighted to have such fans, people who read and worship his every word.
LA Law(yer)
Title VII doesn’t apply to Jake because he doesn’t have enough employees. My guess is that Title VII would preempt any state law with stricter requirements.
p.s. I want his balls all over my face.
Wrong
Please, Queerty is using Ted Casablanca as a “source” that is pathetic. Such bullshit and sad that anyone would believe it.
Jenna's Bush
It’s not “reverse” anything. It’s sexism pur and simple. It’s also illegal.
kitty litter
Poor Tony, if Jake was bearding it would be him that would do anything for PR not her. She doesn’t need it that’s for sure, she doesn’t have the rumors swirling, he does. Take your blinders off.
That said I believe they are legit but exploit their relationship for PR, no news there. They are both curently in the UK staying in Notting Hill with ther kids while he is preparing to film his nest film, sounds a bit extreme for bearding, eh?
And Pepe, please don’t insult me, I’m no fan of Bibby, as you can see from my post, he’s full of shit as is this “story”.
Lawyer Jeff
Sorry guys,
No. 20 is correct in that Title VII does not apply because, odds are, he does not employ enough people to fall under its protections. However, Title VII does not preempt states from passing stricter laws. For example, in California, New York, Hawaii and 16 other states, it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Title VII does not prevent an employer from discrimination on that basis. Preemption only prevents states from having less-restrictive laws, meaning a state may not offer fewer protections than Title VII offers.
California anti-discrimination laws also would not apply for the same reason; odds are he does not employ the mandatory minimum number of people to be considered an “employer covered by the law.”
ed
Jakey,
dump that fugly blonde beard, she makes you look bad.
Wrong
No Ed, some of you look very bad for even believing this bullshit “story”.
