—James Franco, finally putting to bed rumors he is a homogay, which apparently having a long-time girlfriend, Ahna O’Reilly, didn’t do [via]

Notice how he correlates drug use with homosexuality. No different and no more enlightened than Newt Gingrich. I agree with the other commenters. Shut the fuck up James Franco. Few gay people and all straight people do not have closets to come out of. Belittling jackass.

@4starmovie: You saw the pics of where Jeffrey was playing ass-grab with Gerard Butler (a rumored bisexual)?
Any way I want to give James the 12-pack test. I’ll have one, he can have 11, then we’ll see just how straight he really is ;)

Just because he’s straight doesn’t mean he won’t have sex with guys…lots of straights check it out you know…..

he’s comfortable with gays…NOW DON’T SCARE HIM AWAY BITCHES!!!

YOU’VE SEEN THE TRACKS MARKS…he doesn’t smoke pot for sure…..

@D’oh, The Magnificent: He played a drug dealer in a movie, and he’s played gay men in movies. He was simultaneously addressing two assumptions people might have of him. He’s not comparing being gay to drug use.
Seemed pretty simple to me.

@7:
Do I need to explain that I was making a joke about smoking pot ?
Okay, fine!
I don’t care what movies he’s been in. I haven’t seen his pot head movies. I thought he was a pot head even before I saw him in a movie. Its his vibe. When I first saw him, I thought he had been type cast. That’s just his vibe.
My analogy was about overall believability if one doesn’t believe one of his statements. Thus, the joke.
I could have believed he’s not gay. But I don’t believe he doesn’t smoke MJ. The fact he mentioned the MJ threw the “not gay” part into question. He should have stuck with “not gay.”
Get the joke? If he had stopped at “not gay” he would have gotten away with the interview being believable.
Its the overkill of the PR statement that’s funny. “I am really not what people think I am” He may indeed not be gay. But again, I do not believe he’s not token some weed.
It would be like me saying “I am not gay. And, I never drank juice either.” Is it possible I never drank juice? Sure. Believable? Not so much. Same with this cat, and pot smoking.
You must be fun at parties when it comes to light banter.

Anyone over hear of damage control??? The fact that he feels the need to make a statement of this sort indicates he has something to hide. Anybody with a brain knows that a straight and secure person does not feel the need to defend himself.

@Mike: Sure. I would go for that. But that’s not what said. He said “not gay” and thus implying “totally straight.” this is the U.S. He knows what he is saying.
He knows enough having worked in pop culture what the implications of his words are. He’s certainly not an idiot from what I have seen since I started paying attention to him. So the emphatic way he says it and the way in which he adds that he strangely (again don’t believe this one) doesn’t smoke weed is suppose to add up to “he’s straight- totally straight.”
I don’t have a problem with someone coming out as bi. In fact, if that’s what they are, I would prefer that to saying straight or gay because that promotes maximum clarity. But that’s not what he did.

Who cares. hes a good actor, a pleasure to look and and…utilize in imaginative scenarios, but that’s it. If hes straight hes straight. If he’s not he’s not. Its sad that such a non-issue gets such attention. I kinda default myself for even commenting, really.

@Ian: your wrong, do you forget the Greeks, they all married and had children but still had a male lover on the side (who by the way also had his own family), it was part of their culture and was considered quite normal. Society today has made us believe as you say. Also see how glorification of female bisexuality is seen in the media, normality to fuel straight men’s lust and fantasy. Plus some women use the bisexual label to make them more popular, which is quite unfair for lesbians who have fought so much for their rights only for someone to come and make it look like a fad. Not the same for bi men, who are seen as cheating bastards hence the need for them to stick to either side of the scale. And bisexuality doesn’t mean that you are always attracted to both sexes equally, you could be bisexual and spend your life with a man or woman.

Nice try, James!
