Ronnie Magro of MTV’s Jersey Shore tweeted an apology for screaming “fucking faggot” and “fucking queer” while cameras rolled was the right thing to do. Mostly, though, it was a reminder that Ronnie is completely out of touch with how the world works.
“I apologize to my fans, In the heat of the moment i said a lot of things i didnt mean and im very sorry.”
Sorry. Your … fans? Ronnie, you do not have fans. You have spectators. When people scream and point at their television sets, they are not doing it because they somehow envy you. They are laughing at 1) how pussywhipped you are; 2) how you’ve let your body go; 3) how tiny your testicles must be.
But hey, glad to hear you have “said a lot of things” you don’t mean. Sort of like this two-line apology?
How about we take this to the next level?

Great. He apologized to his fans. Big freakin’ deal! I doubt the majority (or any) of “fans” are the “faggots” he offended.
Screw him and his reality show. I hear his fame whore clock ticking. 14:59, 14:58, 14:57….

Fans, spectators, its a thin line these days.

People are never sorry that they did whatever they did to warrant an apology, they’re just sorry they got caught.
Blake
UMMMM I forgive him… I am a FAN and I am def gay… He was mad.. He had been drinking… The word Faggot is a derogatory word right… He was def using it that way…. Its not like he was calling the guy a faggot because he thought he was gay…. He was calling the guy a faggot BECAUSE HE WAS ACTING LIKE A FAGGOT!!!!! hahaha
Cam
With where he was raised, the fact that he even bothered to apologize is surprising to me. The guy is young, raised in “Guido-culture” and probably on steroids. I’ll give him a break on this one, Maybe he’ll actually convince some of the guidos that they shouldn’t be calling people “Faggots” etc…

With all the nasty things that have been said about these kids for who they are and where they come from, who cares if he said faggot in a drunken brawl. There are bigger fish to fry for our community.
I don’t know about the chics (didn’t pay much attention when they were on), but the guys on JS seem to be genuinely nice guys. It always appeared that they were being antagonized or harrassed everywhere they went while they were just trying to have a good time. Paulie D and The Situation are sweethearts that I would like to hangout with, even if they occassionally say faggot for no good reason. So do I.

If you feel saying faggot is okay and you say it as well…then how sorry you must be. You’re NEED and desire to fit in makes you a walking punching bag for all. Go lick the straight communities nuts in a corner, of a dark alley while the rest of us SELF RESPECTING gays get the respect we deserve and demand. But don’t come on our side when gay marriage comes on the ballot.
Last time I checked, you don’t get very far telling your friends it’s fine to shout “FAG!!!” at random people in public but request they vote for “fags” to get married. Not so effective.
But then again, something tells me the 2 posters above who posted spewing fag is no big deal also use “st8 acting” on their DL posts on craigslist, and that’s the extent of their exposure to gay people and gay issues.

Not true and completely off the mark. Nice try though. Why can’t gays guys call each other fags like blacks and other groups throw around personally derogatory words to change the meaning and make it less offensive? You must be one of these “Self-Respecting” Boo Radley Hoo queers thats a little over-zealous in your marching and protesting efforts though really haven’t though it through, its just where everyone else was going that day.

Not all blacks agree that throwing around a derogatory word make it less derogatory. But I agree with you on the F word. I use it also, in pleasant company of course. When we use these words – which is probably why its not a good idea – they come with a built in double standard. I can say it, but you can’t.
I can call one of my gay friends a “nasty faggot” over a card game and illicit laughter. I don’t think there is any self-loathing involved (and if it is, its so deep its in my DNA so there’s no point in stressing over it).
I think when it comes to those ‘words’ a general rule of thumb should suffice: You have to be one to use it (and only among others who can also use it).

I get this sneaking suspicion that the apology came at the request of an agent or publicist, but if Ronnie changes his ways, then good for him. Interesting that his apology wasn’t aired, unless I missed something. {I still think they should’ve recast the show for the new season. I like fresh meat!}
@Taylor Siluwé: Those are good rules about the epithets. I’m not a fan of the F slur but espec. hate to hear it from another gay guy within *earshot* of the heteros.
Growing up, we got a dollar docked from the allowance if we said a “bad word” so Mom hung the list on the refrigerator!/Anyone visiting must’ve thought that her shopping list included H€LL, SH*T, DAMN, @$$H0LE, BIT*H and assorted racial/religious no-nos. Oh, RETARD and GIMP were on the list, too. How *she* knew those words, I don’t know.

Have relatives in Jersey and spent a lot of time there, especially down at the shore. From my observation, I always thought the lingua franca down there ran more toward “cocksucker” than faggot, so kudos to Ronnie for being linquistically adventurous.
Really, guys, if you only knew the feverish world they live in, you’d know he’s doing the best he can, bless his heart. Bear in mind he’s gonna marry one of those babes. My Aunt Marie’s voice can peel paint off walls at 50 feet. I’m serious.

Amusing how few people care when a white guy uses these slurs. If I recall correctly many wanted Isaiah Washington hung from a cross for allegedly saying one of them.
Doug
Who’s going to apologize for the stupid way they cut that clip, why didn’t they just show it?
