Modern family is a shitty show, and full of VERY bad homophobic stereotypes.

@DJ: I’ve never seen it – apart from one brief clip – but even if they are “stereotypes” is that really homophobic? A stereotype is usually just a type that is perpetuated more than any other type. But types like this do exist, so by portraying them I don’t think we can say it’s homophobic, because – by extension – that implies there’s something wrong with that type. Loads seem to criticise Kurt in Glee for the same reason, but there are gay kids like that (albeit he’s a broader character).
I share the frustration that there aren’t more varied or nuanced gay characters on TV and in films, but relying on a cliched type isn’t necessarily homophobic?

Who the hell thinks Modern Family is funny? Its full of tired jokes that keep coming every two seconds.
Hemingway and Gellhorn was the best movie released this year, probably way better than everything up for an Oscar last year. I hate how it gets categorized with some shitty low production stuff.
Game of Thrones > everything else nominated.

It is her second nomination for Coach Bieste. It is so remarkably easy to check facts, I just can’t understand why Dan Avery articles are so full of errors. This is simple basic stuff, if Dan Avery can’t check his own work then hir an editor.
