Queerty is better as a member
ok tell that to people who believes black people were denied rights ones and ones nothing but slaves….WHO ARE YOU TO DENY OURS!!!! bible also says slavery is a tradition….ignorant bastard
Poor old Jimmy, having to stand there with Coulter, whom he couldn’t marry at one time strictly because it was against moral grounds.
What about the tradition of dying when you’re old and ugly?
He needs to sit on a pile of DYNOMITE!
… And then light a ciggarette.
Now, I have the Good Times theme song in my head…I will be singing it all day.
Why does he even care? It’s not like Jimmie JJ Walker has ever been married or has any kids.
Read the post on my iPod couldn’t really make out the woman. I was thinking, why is JJ talking about gay relationships when his wife looks like a bad drag queen. Lol
From his Wikepedia entry…….
“” According to an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show on June 27, 2012, Walker stated he has never been married and has never had any children.””
So he was famous, rich, popular….and yet “JUST NEVER SEEMED TO MEET THE RIGHT GIRL”.
Ok everybody 3….2…..1……CLOSET CASE!
Hey Jimmy, just a little over 150 years ago it was moral to own slaves…. aren’t you glad people went against “morality” then?
“There’s just certain traditions that need to be upheld.” Like separate-but-equal drinking fountains?
“I’m as much a heathen as anybody.” That’s the funniest thing here. Has anybody ever played the “heathen” card on this before? This must be a first. But I’m sure a lot of us here on Queerty are better (worse?) heathens.
He’s entitled to his opinion, of course – he seems a little confused in the last sentence, though.
“I don’t like it, I don’t accept it”
He’s entitled to like or dislike whatever he chooses, but it’s not his place to “accept it”.
Anyone who dislikes how other people live their lives, without harming anyone else, should realise that’s as far as their influence on the subject goes. He doesn’t need to “accept” it, because no one’s asking for his acceptance.
His acceptance stretches only to that which impinges on his own life – what anyone else does or is is out of his jurisdiction.
We’re demanding the rights which are as much ours as anyone else’s.
This guy’s (and anyone else’s) “acceptance” is completely irrelevant…
Dislike us all you want.
Just mind your own business and GET OUT OF OUR WAY.
At least he is honest. it’s better than coming up with a ton of bs reasons.
I don’t think he is honest. I think he is a closet case.
“There’s just certain traditions that need to be upheld.”
LOL. Like what, bitch? Like women not being allowed to vote? Like black people sitting at the back of the bus? I can’t decide if he’s a hypocrite or a moron.
I love the whole ‘moral’ sham reasoning. There’s nothing moral about supporting discrimination you fool. Especially since it’s been scientifically shown that sexual orientation is not a choice. If he knows that he’s an idiot, why can’t he change his way of thinking? OH right, ‘tradition’. Have fun with that, while the world progresses forward.
Why is he even in the news? Is he going to be on some reality show sometime soon? All he’s know for is shuck ‘n’ jive humor. Maybe VH1 is going to feature him in some celebreality tv.
I think he’s got it down. He’s both a hypocrite and a moron.
In 100 years from now, people are going to go, ‘Who was against gay marriage?’ And I’ll be one of those idiots and say, ‘That’s me.’ I’m just against it on moral grounds, that’s it. I’m as much a heathen as anybody. I just don’t believe on moral grounds it should be done. I don’t like it, I don’t accept it.
**Does he think he’ll be around in 100 years to say that he was against it then? He is an idiot!
Jimmy, see your doctor, man. You’re either on too much, or too little, medication. Pick one.
Anyone who is willingly friends with that repugnant viper-snake Ann Coulter is clearly insane.
Isn’t Jimmy Walker gay? That’s what I’ve heard for years.
Well, at least he’s aware that his opinion doesn’t matter. People love being ‘moral’ and ‘traditional’, until you peek into their bedrooms and see a freak show.
First Kirk Cameron, now Jimmie Walker…. I so cannot wait to hear what Edd “Kookie” Byrnes or Dwayne Hickman (even though I have a feeling he’s an ally since he has campaigned for lesbian former co-star Sheila Kuehl in the past) or someone else from television 40-50 years ago has to say about gay marriage since all the A-listers are coming out in droves
He can shove a big stick of DY-NO-MITE up his ass and fuck himself!
How desperate he is for attention that he would feel the need to comment on topic.
What a sad tragic clown.
“I’m a believer that gay marriage should be passed because the battle is not worth the war. The gay lobby is very loud. I’m totally against it.”
This guy needs to take a few classes on EMPATHY.
By his logic, all those back in the 60s demanding civil rights — INCLUDING MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. — were all “WHINERS” and such?
That Civil Rights should be denied on the grounds that someone has the audacity to LOUDLY demand them?
Well maybe denied at least until you are tired of hearing them ‘complain’ and just want the topic to go away, I suppose.
So, in essence, we will get Equal Marriage because we are all ‘spoiled brats’ or some such.
Plus… ‘the battle is not worth the war’?
Getting Equal Marriage IS no mere battle, it pretty much IS the entire war.
People are spending millions upon millions of dollars trying to prevent Equal Marriage, it is no mere battle for them.
I’m pretty certain our enemies in NOM even deem this to be ‘THE WAR’ — as in Biblical ‘END TIMES’.
Which means he is quite out of touch even among others who share his viewpoint.
All together, this man is a totally clueless relic who just received his most recent ’15 minutes of fame’ merely FOR BEING A CLUELESS RELIC.
Sad really, I rather liked the show back in the day.
To see him him fall so far from any sort of relevance is quite pitiful.
I doubt Kirk Cameron and NOM will want to bring him any closer to them and we sure as heck don’t want him — he is standing out in an empty field, all alone.
A CLUELESS RELIC
If it weren’t for a stupid catch-phrase from a sitcom made over 30 years ago nobody would have the slightest clue who Jimmie Walker is. And just because a few people DO remember who he is doesn’t make him relevant. Who gives a shit what Jimmie Walker thinks? Have Roger and Dee from “What’s Happening?” weighed in on the issue yet?
I’d be pissed if it was John Amos who said this though because I’ve had a crush on him since the late 70s.
Hey, at least he mad an honest statement – “I don’t like it,” and indicated that it was not a reason for setting public policy. That puts his discomfort with same-sex marriage in the same category as the case of a guy who won’t eat broccoli because he doesn’t like the taste.
He could have worded it better, simply saying that he didn’t like it but that this was his problem and no one else’s.
@Ty: What really gets me is that Hollywood typically is the place where people who ‘don’t fit in’ finally find themselves.
Many celebrities were NOT the ‘popular kids’ by their own admission.
Acting and such was an outgrowth of trying to overcome early issues.
Arnold Schwarzenegger got into body building due to being bullied.
Robin Williams was a lonely child who would entertain himself by playing up in the attic of his home making ‘funny voices’ for his action figures and such.
There are lot of these stories around.
So I have to wonder how it is that certain celebrities can get through all those years of being in acting without getting some of these anti-social tendencies called out and rectified by their peers.
I suspect a few of their acting peers are likely wondering the same thing.
@B: I can’t think of many people who don’t eat broccoli on moral grounds, though. :p
@sheena: Yeah. Too bad they never did away with that tradition of having black people on TV. Mr. Walker is an ass.
@sheena: Yeah. Too bad they never did away with that tradition of not having black people on TV. Mr. Walker is an ass.
Such a shame. I bet he wouldn’t like it if I told him to go to the back of the bus based on my moral beliefs. Moron.
I could not possibly care less what J.J. Walker thinks is moral. The only part of the statement that has any value is that he thinks “gay marriage should be passed”. I don’t care what people’s reasons are as long as this is their conclusion.
Once again, Afro-Americans at the forefront of anti-gay commentary and beliefs about marriage equality. What’s sad but true is that he represents how the vast majority of blacks feel.
Drop dead, you stupid ordinary bore. Gay people will still be around in 100 years and idiots like you will be dead. WE WILL SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE.
I’m so glad Mr. Walker slithered back from Has-beenville to impart this profound nugget of insight. This dude wasn’t relevant when he was relevant. Even when Good Times was in its first season he played a barely diluted variation on the “sho nuff, massa!” sort of Steppin Fetchit minstrel character. But thanks Jimmy for reminding us why we chose to forget you. Buh-bye.
The modern STEP-N-FETCHIT doesnt like gay people. Please you have nothing to offer anyone except your stupid lousy past. Go fuck yourself yo hate filled sack of shit.
I really thought he had died. I guess if you’ve been completely overlooked and forgotten, you have do do something different to get your name in the news for 10 minutes. Very sad.
And his opinion matters how?
Giving jimmy Walker air time at all has to signify that there was absolutely no other newsworthy event happening that day.
A video clip of Mel Brooks gargling has a thousand times more value than anything Jimmy Walker might ever have said or done (or ever WILL say or do) in his entire lifetime.
He had no career even when he was in a TV show, he never worked prior to that and certainly never again after.
A mere blip on the radar.
The main point is where he freely admits that Equal Marriage affects him not at all, while staying he is opposed anyway.
That is simply ‘hate for the sake of hate’, even worse that most of the rest who keep trying to invent some kind of justification.
Even if he says it should pass finally anyway as he is so sick of hearing about it, well I start to worry about how one expresses their hatred once they can longer do so ‘legally’ by discriminating.
Wearing white hoods/sheets and burning crosses was the response to the Emancipation… as well as torture and murder and other terrorism tactics.
Roe vs. wade introduced the new version of the ‘pro-lifer’, who’d climb a water tower with a sniper rifle to take out any doctor that would work at a Planned Parenthood clinic (there was just another murder in 2009. Who remembers Dr. George Tiller being a martyr for women’s reproductive rights?)
What will our version be like?
Because there will be one for us as well.
Jimmy Walker is the first of that new breed as far as I can tell.
So once we are are married in our Equal Marriage so it is easier to find us in a crowd, then there’ll be arson and home invasion robberies that seem to be more about brutalizing the homeowner than actual theft of property, and who knows what all else.
But we’ll have ‘Equal Marriage’ — which will feel like a total Pyrrhic victory if too many of us suddenly aren’t living long enough to enjoy it.
We can’t JUST can’t gain Equal Marriage without dealing with the rest of it, or it will ‘deal with’ us.
Suddenly, Jimmy Walker becomes a lot more important than he really deserves – important like an especially virulent strain of Ebola.
Are you a has-been who wants to get your name in the paper? Be against gay marriage! It’s that simple!
Not to mention, he spent all those years on a show ewith a closeted gay….the late actor who played his younger brother Michael.
Jimmy: You’re a real stupid svartze. Whatever happened to your career of thirty odd years ago? You don’t seem to be on the Hollywood “A” list. More like the “Z” list. Or even more likely, totally forgotten as a no talent loser.
Jimmy Walker, I have never heard of it!.
On “moral” grounds? That moron probably doesn’t even know what “moral” means.
Thank goodness the world, and the USA, is sick and tired of people like that he believes his “views” need to be imposed on others.
He’s probably having an affair with someone. Those that scream the loudest … freaking hypocrite!
Jimmy Walker and Victoria Jackson? They are really lining up the A-List celebrities against us.
We should ask the girl robot from “Small Wonder” what she thinks of gay marriage.
@Colin: Why do so many White folks disown their Gay relatives?
It always surprised me when African American males gang up on gays. It’s like, dude you’re a minority! You should understand what we’re dealing with!
Shut up Colin-under-a-different-name. I’m sure you get ganged up on a lot (and not in the good way) because you’re a clown and pretty much deserve it.
@brad: I agree. Thanks for stating the obvious.
@Kim: Why do so many white folks pass pro-gay measures and are almost entirely the ones pushing gay rights along, while the blacks do nothing? Hmmm….I wonder.
Why do so many whites create propositions to deny same sex couples to marry and then have their predominately white religions/churches to raise MILLIONS to fund its promotion?
“Colin” is a 3-legged jackass and needs to be put out of his misery.
@Stav: That still doesn’t take away from the fact that white people are the ones pushing for gay equality. Sorry. You have white people to thank for pretty much any gay equality we have. This is a FACT.
@Stav: Furthermore, why did blacks vote overwhelmingly in such propositions against gays and gay marriage, and then get mad when they’re called out for it? I guess the truth hurts when it comes to blacks.
@Colin: Blacks wouldn’t be able to vote against anything if these lawmakers — who’re overwhelmingly white — weren’t the ones creating these anti-gay propositions in the first place. It’s pretty safe to say that EVERY law on the books restricting some form of equality for gays in the U.S. was put forth by lawmakers who were…wait for it…white.
Yeah, the truth obviously does hurt; which explains why you’re dodging the greater point. Because you know you can’t argue it. Seriously, Colin, you’re an idiot. Were you born stupid, or did someone drop you on your head?
No. 31 · Analog wrote, “@B: I can’t think of many people who don’t eat broccoli on moral grounds, though. :p” But he indicated that he wasn’t trying to force his tastes or opinions onto anyone else, which implies that “moral grounds” in this case did not seem to imply universal standards.
@Stav: And every person passing gay legislation in favor of gay rights is overwhelmingly white. Even the black Democrats are by and large against gay rights. You people are just useless all around. That’s the only point that you’re dodging, LOL. Keep it up. I always like watching you people try to think.
@Colin: Correction: Unless you people are working *against* gay rights, as you pretty much always are, you are just useless to the gay movement.
Black democrats in state and federal legislatures are overwhelmingly for gay rights, Colin.
That is a FACT
@Chitown kev: No, it’s not. Towing the party line is not the same thing as being for gay rights.
How dull you all are. An insignificant ex-celebrity — who’d be lucky to land a gig cutting the ribbon to a Chick-Fil-A at a strip mall — says something ignorant so you haul the discourse into a barely literate black vs. white slapfight. Really? This thread is enough to make a person pessimistic about the future of human rights in this country.
JJ Walker running around with the far-right crowd is rich. Walker would never have had a national career at all if it weren’t for super-liberal Norman Lear and his super-liberal shows. I guess Walker just took Lear’s money without ever paying a damn bit of attention to what Lear’s shows were actually about. What a jerk.
How washed p does a celebrity have to be before we don’t care what they say? Cuz kid dy-no-mite is pretty washed up.
