According to ABC News, President Barack Obama will name Massachusetts Senator John Kerry to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, thus ensuring four years of discourse regarding his ponytails and colorful pantsuits.
Hills was recovering from an illness and a concussion she suffered after fainting as a result of her illness over the weekend.
Though she will step down from her position as Secretary of State in a few weeks, Clinton leaves a legacy that includes advocacy for international and domestic LGBT rights.
Kerry also has a strong record on LGBT issues, having voted against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996 and supporting the Employee Non-Discrimination Act.
How about we take this to the next level?

Still, Hillary Clinton’s are some big — albeit sensible — shoes to fill.

How is it possible to keep Scott Brown from nabbing Kerry’s Senate seat. Although, now that Brown lost so miserably to Elizabeth Warren, perhaps he’ll go back to seriously becoming moderate (again) and won’t vote down perfectly good Justices for the Supreme Court, just to satisfy dinosaurs in his ineffectual party. Is it possible to squeeze another Democrat in? I truly don’t know. Thanks, Queertiers.

A very solid choice for a very difficult position. Following such a top notch Secretary of State as Hillary would be a challenge for anyone. Still, kind of surprising that he would accept this kind of position. I would have expected him to want to maintain his position as a senior Senator for a while yet before leaving politics, but you have to imagine that this would pretty much end his career (in a good way).

@1EqualityUSA: While Brown would definitely keep the race competitive, I in now way think that he’s a shoe-in like the Media likes to claim (the same media that said the presidential election was a tossup at most, possibly lean Romney).
That being said, Kerry DOES have a great head of hair.

Brown didn’t loose miserably to warren, he got 46% of the vote, which is incredible for a republican is Mass. He’d be very competitive in a special election again, but would have to run again in 2014.

Maybe they can get Mitt Romney to run. 55555

Brown will lose. He was a tea party candidate and the tea party are waning. And Mass is a blue state. His pro-gun position will definitely not look good given what happened in Connecticut.

FStratford, Is a substitute appointed? Unclear on this.
