Following an explicit sex scene that’s certain to cause a heated debate among viewers, Jonathan Groff‘s Patrick and Raúl Castillo’s Richie take a stroll through the streets of San Francisco in this weekend’s episode of Looking. The twosome gets better acquainted with one another while sharing embarrassing personal tidbits about their youth and basically just reveling in the blush of a new romance. Ah, young love. The much-discussed series airs exclusively on HBO Sundays at 10:30 p.m.
Watch a sweet clip from Sunday’s episode below.

I hope there is going to be more Russel Tovey. He’s dreamy.

Can’t fucking wait, literally.
This is the second time I’ve heard the sex scene described as “explicit,” although Queerty spoiled that it was a scene between Patrick and Richie. The critic from “The New Yorker” said on Twitter that episode 5 had ‘an explicit sex scene’ viewers were asking for, but she didn’t say with which characters.
I’m trying to imagine how or why it’s ‘explicit,’ just because the show has been sexy but coy in past sex scenes.
SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!
DO NOT READ PAST THIS POINT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO HEAR A TIDBIT ABOUT THE TRAJECTORY OF PATRICK’S RELATIONSHIP WITH RICHIE JONATHAN GROFF SAID DURING A Q&A. I’M SERIOUS; I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ANY COMPLAINTS THAT YOU WERE NOT SPECIFICALLY WARNED.
In response to a question about what Patrick’s journey is like this season, Jonathan said Patrick gets what he wants, but finds maybe he wasn’t quite ready for it because he has a lot of growing up to do. I assume this refers to his relationship with Richie. Furthermore, Jonathan revealed something about Patrick’s future with Kevin. [Do not read past this point if you do not want to hear.] When asked if Patrick and Kevin will kiss this season, Jonathan borrowed from his character and said, “Maybe we will and maybe… we will.” So either Patrick will cheat on Richie with Kevin, or Patrick and Richie will break up before Patrick and Kevin have some fun. BTW, as a tangent, I will add that Jonathan also said Patrick’s sexual history with Dom will be further discussed in Season 1. As of now, there are no indications of whether that flame will be rekindled (the critic from the New Yorker did say there are some surprising turns this season).
SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!
Jonathan Groff-provided details above. Do not read if you want to be surprised.

I refuse to believe any sex scene on LOOKING could cause anyone or anything to get heated, let alone a debate.

Note to Patrick: Dump the doorman and trade up to the boss. Just sayin’

This dud of a tv show is still on the air?

I can’t wait to see what they think qualifies as “explicit” sex.
Lefty
Vigorous frottage.
crazycorgi
They have called the “hand job” scene in the park “explicit” and it showed absolutely NOTHING! Sorry, but to date I have not witnessed anything on this show as what I would call “explicit” or “ground-breaking”. Not putting the show down, rather all the hype.
scott609
I hope he ends up with Kevin too. Richie is just not in Patrick’s league. Maybe if he lost that scruffy beard…
sportyguy1983
@scott609 shallow much?
BrokebackBob
Please cancel this series.
Jeepo1
seriously he said “neither of us has aids”…..? is he straight. what gay man would talk that way. he’d say neither of us is poz, we’re both neg, or maybe neither of us has hiv. but what gay man in this day and age would say he doesn’t have aids? just because your poz doesn’t mean you have aids. are the writers straight?

@sportyguy1983: You didn’t have to click on the post but yet you do every single time. I really think you get off on dumping all over it.
Stache1
@Jeepo1: Yeah, I cringed a bit at the stupidity of that.
Stache1
@BrokebackBob: Yeah, I agree. We need to make sure this comes back for season two.

Am I the only one that wants Patrick to end up with Richie? I appear to be in the minority but I really like this series. So far, I love Richie’s character and his down to earth nature. He may not be in Kevin’s league (whatever that means) but his heart seems to appear genuine.

I know this has already been said. But how did this show get the green light, there is nothing original or exciting about this show.

I find Groff asexual but the other guy is kinda hot.
SteveDenver
@Stache1: And we both know he watches every episode in secret, like some shameful monk masturbating in a dark corner.

Jonathan Groff is AWFUL. He is so over the top. He is just so arrogant and pleased with himself that he got on a new show. I just want to punch him in the face. His silly permanent grin is annoying. He seems unable to show different emotions. He is not sexy at all and his pathetic attempts to play the naive gay guy are just embarrassing. They chose the wrong actor.
After a VERY slow start I am starting to enjoy the show a little more but Groff needs to go. I cannot suffer through any more scenes of him SHOVELING food into his mouth like a neanderthal and talking with his mouth full. Does he do this to cover up his TERRIBLE acting ?
The other guy with the unrealistic 70’s porn mustache is starting to grow on me but how the hell are they thinking he can pass for 39 ? He looks more like 49 !
I can’t say I LIKE any of the main three characters but I am wanting to see where the show goes and I want them to introduce more characters. So far the best characters are the ones that are NOT the main three ! I am perfectly OK with the main three guys being phased out and more interesting and REAL characters introduced.

I think this show really should have been released Netflix style with the whole series at once. 30 minute chunks every week are not keeping some peoples attention. I get the feeling the series is building up to something, but the queens saying “it’s boring!” aren’t patient enough to wait.
I think people really need to stop evaluating series, especially HBO and Netflix style series, on their first few episodes. Evaluate based on the first full season, then make your judgement of whether a season 2 is deserved.
