Raul Castillo was asked what it’s like to lock lips with Jonathan Groff:”He’s a little hairier than I’m used to — he has a little more stubble than I’m used to, but other than that he’s a complete gentleman.”
Actress and new mom Zoe Saldana, who appeared in last year’s hit Guardians of the Galaxy and the abominable remake of Rosemary’s Baby, surprised a lot of people at the GLAAD awards Saturday by shouting “Wear Dolce!” to photographers and saying that she wouldn’t let the fashion duo’s offensive remarks about surrogate families affect her “fashion choices.” She continued babbling to a reporter for The Wrap in the video above.
In less inflammatory GLAAD news, Scandal‘s Kerry Washington was handed the org’s Vanguard Award over the weekend and in her speech she called for “more diverse LGBT representation” and “more employment of LGBT people in front of, and behind, the camera.”
Zayn Malik might be departing One Direction forevs. No word on whether it’s anything to do with kissing his bandmate.

I just watched the clip with Zoe: And she said Eltoh John and D & G huged it out and it’s all good?? I’m late to this. Had no idea they made up. And Elton walked out with a bag of D & G ?? Say what! If this is true, it doesn’t erase what they said, and how they really feel about gay parenting. D & G was only willing to hug it out and make nice because it affected their bottom line. And if all of this is true, who made Elton John the national gay spokesman, who determines that all is well and forgiven? He did this forgiveness crap eith Emenim, inviting him on stage, giving a big hug and performing a song together, only to have Emenim rebash gays later. Several times at that.

How do you get less hairy than Jonathan Groff without it being statutory?

I don’t think there was any hugging it out going on except in Zoe’s pea brain. Elton John did have a bag with the label D&G on it. His spokesperson said he was just using the bag to carry things in but wasn’t purchasing anything by D&G. Either way, I don’t think people take their cues from Elton John as he’s been inconsistent to say the least.
I can’t figure out why she was at the GLAAD awards but they should reconsider ever inviting her again as she doesn’t seem remotely concerned about LGBT issues. I wonder if the designer had made a remark that interracial babies weren’t real or that black people shouldn’t adopt if she would still insist on wearing their clothes.

Nice clickbait, Queerty, but Raul Castillo is straight and has a girlfriend. Presumably, he doesn’t kiss any other men.
But the clickbait isn’t shocking. What’s shocking is that Raul is 37 and turning 38 this August. I thought he was a decade younger than that. He looks amazing.
Consider that Ted Cruz is only 44, and looks so much older.

Kerry Washington is smart, incredibly beautiful, a terrific actress and someone to look up to of any race or sexual orientation. Zoe Saldana on the other hand is…..sorry…Zoe who???????
Captain Obvious
Zoe is probably getting paid to say all that crap, but personally I can’t stand her ass anyway. She doesn’t even identify as black(even though she clearly is) so that pretty much lets you know how bright she is off the bat. I wonder if she’s friends with Jessica “Don’t call me Latina” Alba.
Doug Richards
Zoe can kiss my ass!
Blackceo
Loved Kerry Washington keeping it real with her speech, especially the “other” talk. We often are too divided when we should be working together. She was also right about ther needing to be more diverse LGBT representation instead of mostly White gay males.
@Captain Obvious:
I didn’t know she denied her Latina heritage. What about her husband who is half Black?
Tackle
@Captain Obvious: I’m no fan of Zoe, but she has always identified as a Black Latina. Yrs ago she attended the Black women in films luncheon with her Avitar creator and director. Was on the cover of both Ebony & Essence magazine. And talked about the hurt she felt from the Black community, ( who she says she identifies with most) because she was miscast as Nina Simone. Kimberly Elise would have been perfect as Nina. Zoe would be better cast as Diana Ross. But getting back to my original thoughts and what I was saying, Zoe has never denied being Black.
Tackle
@xzall: Normally I don’t like analogies that uses race, out of something that was a sexual orientation issue. But in this case, it’s well suited. I would even take it in this direction. I wonder if D&G had said that “interracial people should not have babies, due to the children being confused. And that Black people should not adopt children,” would she be ok with Jessi Jackson hugging it out and making it all nice, and everything is just all good now.
And why was she even at the awards show? And if these are indeed false statements by Zoe, Glaad should look into not inviting her back. And I wish Elton would release a statement countering what she said…
Cam
So if D & G had made a comment on interracial marriage and “the Children” would Zoe Saldana still not care? Nothing that doesn’t effect her directly apparently matters to her. Bigotry effecting somebody else she doesn’t care, not wearing a dress she likes, Oh my, THAT would be HORRIBLE!
What a bigot, ugh, looks like I’m not going to see the next Star Trek or Guardians movie. It’s a shame, I liked both those franchises.
And before anybody tries to defend her and saying “Oh, it’s just her “Opinion”, no, she was yelling and trying to get OTHERS to support them. Sounds like she has a wider bigoted streak then it at first seems.
NG22
@Captain Obvious: She is Dominican, and a lot of Dominicans do not identify as black. La Republica has a gross social attitude that to be black is to be Haitian, and they’ve long prided themselves on being better than Haitians on the other side of Hispanola.
ggreen
Brandon Flowers loves,tithes and makes glowing endorsement commercials for his despicable anti-gay “church” Major fail.
Eric Auerbach
@NG22: If you’d bothered to spend 3 seconds online, you’d have found articles like this:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/14/zoe-saldana-for-allure-talks-race_n_3271742.html
where Saldana clearly identifies as black.
Seriously, Queerty continues to have the most idiotic commenters on the internet.
SteveDenver
If Dolce/Gabbana had said the N-word, would she be so stupid and support them? I thought she was smarter than that, but this indicates she’s not.
smittoons
@ggreen: Brandon Flowers is also clearly not aligned with the church on gay issues – he looks up to many gay icons, appreciates his gay fans, duetted with Elton John… Not every Mormon agrees with every position of the Church even if they are devout. It’s unfair to attack a religious person for not turning his back on the religion he’s known since childhood because of one issue.
Blackceo
@Tackle:
Yeah Zoe embraces her AfroLatino heritage. Her mother is Puerto Rican and her father is Domonican so I don’t know where people are pulling that out of their ass from.
@Eric Auerbach:
True, but what NG22 said about a lot of Dominicans is true. Compared to Haiti, the Dominican Republic is a better off country but that’s long saying much given that unless you are in a resort area or one of the select few with money, the Domincan Republic is a very poor country. Colorism has long played an issue with them. Just look at Sammy Sosa who went from a vey nice looking chocolate Dominican to a scary white vampire due to bleaching his skin.
Kangol
@Captain Obvious:
Zoe Saldana very well DOES identify as bl@ck, as an Afrolatina, as a Puerto Rican and Dominican woman, as a Latina. She identifies as all of these. Google it. She denies none of these aspects of herself.
She really does say some boneheaded things at times, though.
Concerning the Dominican Republic, yes, there is an official, longstanding r@cial (r@cist) ideology there that is strong among elites, which culminated in General Trujillo’s 1937 slaughter of up to 30,000 Haitian immigrants and dark-skinned Dominicans, and President Balaguer’s hateful, white suprem@cist tract against Haitians and bl@ck people.
But if you GO to the country, you will see that Dominicans, while harboring strong views against Haiti and Haitians, their neighbors on Hispaniola who ruled over DR from 1822-1844, nevertheless have a much more complicated relationship to r@ce, ancestry, bl@ckness, and so on. For every Sammy Sosa, there is a Big Papi (David Ortiz), or Vladimir Guerrero, or Fernando Rodney, or Alfonso Soriano, or Arlenis Sosa, or so many others, who affirm their bl@ckness.
