I’m a huge huge Comeback fan. I literally watch it so much that throughout the course of shooting this season they’ve had to tell me to stop saying my lines like Valerie Cherish. Like, ‘You’re line’s sounding a little Valerie Cherish can you just take it down a notch,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, right. Sorry sorry sorry.’ Sometimes we’ll actually rehearse our lines as Valerie Cherish while we’re rehearsing a scene. We are all obsessed with the show.”
— Jonathan Groff discussing filming the new season of HBO’s Looking and his obession with The Comeback with SFist

“I don’t need to see that.” OMG. Was he in a cupcake suit?
Cam
So he was saying his lines in a way that sounded like pretty much the character of Phoebe from friends sounding like she needed to pee really bad?
kayakriver
@Cam why the hate Cam? why the hate? we don’t need to see that!!!
Cam
@kayakriver:
No hate for Groff, just for “The Comeback”. It was like watching a bad scene in a high school acting class!

I hadn’t ever seen The Comeback before last night. I found it amateurish, self-involved and decidedly not funny. Didn’t laugh once. Seth Rogen looked like he was ashamed to be there.

@Alan down in Florida: I’m going to just pretend you didn’t write any of that filth because I simply refuse to get into a fight today.

I’m sorry I have to agree, Kudros acting was so forced it was painful to watch. The character wasn’t natural, it was as though she were wearing a sign that said “Hey Look Mom, I’m acting!”.

BEST SHOW EVER!!! I have to admit I’ve never seen an episodes of Friends so I have no idea who this Phoebe is. But Valerie gets what we’re all doing.

I’ve come to the conclusion that anyone who doesn’t love “The Comeback” and Valerie Cherish just isn’t worth knowing.
