Joran van der Sloot Confesses to Killing Peruvian Lesbian Stephany Ramirez. No Death Penalty

Late yesterday Joran van der Sloot, the suspected killer of Alabama’s Natalee Holloway, confessed to slaying Stephany Flores Ramirez, a lesbian whose body was found days after her beating and stabbing death in a Lima hotel room. According to CNN’s report, in Peru’s courts it is better to confess, which generally earns you a lighter sentence than a conviction at trial. There is neither a death penalty or life sentence in Peru; the highest sentence is reportedly 35 years.

      It’s a shame it took a second murder for this psycho to finally be brought to justice.

      Most countries in the civilized world don’t have the death penalty, queerty. The US is part of an exclusive club along with China, Iran, Sudan, North Korea, that still has the death penalty.

      Her family turned on her for coming out — demanding that she give up girls and date boys.

      Here’s the result.

      @whatever: Peru actually does have the death penalty, but it is only used to punish crimes like genocide and treason during wartime.

      Anyone else notice the “PNP” all over the wall in the background?

      @Baxter: Ok. In most that have the death penalty “on the books” it’s used in special and extreme circumstances or not used at all.

      Death penalty? I’m surprised to learn that murdering a gay in Peru doesn’t just require paying a fine.

      @the crustybastard:
      Surprisingly South America is actually pretty good when it comes to gay rights. They are a lot more open than other underdeveloped areas of the world like the Middle East and Africa. Brazil recognizes civil partnerships and I think also Mexico. They have a laid back more open approach to sex.

      Norway has a maximum jail sentence of 23 years. Even if you plunder a whole village: 23 years. This works, too: they have the lowest crime rate on earth. America’s jail terms are insanely long, and it just destroys all hope of reforming people who commit crimes, making things worse & worse.

      @Tommy: Yeah, probably. The guy probably thought, “Hey, this is a Mexican-ish Latin country. They must hate teh gays. So let me make some bigoted observation without knowing the basic facts.”

      Bunch of “Jasons” on this site.

      @whatever:

      The death penalty is very civilized. What is uncivilized is forcing taxpayers to pay for the care and feeding of people who should be swiftly eliminated from the Earth, like anyone who kills a gay person.

      The death penalty should be MANDATORY in cases like this.

      For the love of god could you people stop calling every place that isn’t America “under-developed” as if they’re so beneath you? It’s disgusting and ignorant commentary as is terminology such as “Third World”. Superiority is ugly. Notice it’s only non-white countries and governments referred to this way? Yeah, let it sink in, then stop now that you’ve come to the realization that they’re very racist/biased views. Different cultures do different things and white does not equal right. So please just stop equating white culture and the “white” way of doing things with the word “better”. Ingrained racist makes me want to vomit as most people don’t even seem to realize they’re doing it.

      That said he’s going to get his one way or another. When the law fails families and friends step in. If he even makes it that far. I doubt the prisoners he’ll be bunking with are pushovers and murderers are usually big psychotic sissies that can’t deal with everyday life like the rest of us.

      I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

      Why all of a sudden are the headlines saying Joran Van Sloot murders lesbian Stephany Flores. What does her sexual preference have to do with her murder. Isn’t there such a thing as privacy. The press makes me sick. In a way it is putting her down and the media is just as guilty for the awful things that happens to people’s lives. I’m sure her parents did not want this part of her life revealed and it was completely unnecessary

      @ HILARIOUS: There was exactly one reference to “under-developed countries”, and that one was a left-handed compliment toward Peru. There were no mentions (zero) of “Third World” nations. Not sure who your rant was for, but the only racist, or bigot, that I’ve noticed on this thread is you. Your obviously anti-White opinions are more apparent than anyone else’s perceived condescension toward South American countries. Maybe you should “stop now that you’ve come to the realization that they’re very racist/biased views.”
