OH SNAP — Perry‘s Judge Vaughn Walker enjoying a meal at the restaurant 2223 last night, dining with Positive Resource Center executive director Brett Andrews, when acti-blogger Michael Petrelis happened upon them. And asked if Walker was going to come out. It was only slightly awkward after that. [via]
The judge has dinner with a hottie!

This is intrusive, without a shred of redeeming social value. It’s like stalking. Where’s the common decency we all should strive to attain? Yes, he’s just like us and deserves the same civilized respect for his private person we’re in the midst of a struggle to attain.
@WiseUp: Whatever is on your own table remains your own business however “silly” it may appear to gawkers taking photos through the window.

Judges tend not to like being centers of attention… rather, they think the cases they preside over should take the banner.
And when they do think their image overshadows that of the case, they typically recuse themselves.
So why the fuck are we trying to make Judge Walker the center of attention before a verdict is out??
What the hell is wrong with you people?

@Jon (one of the other ones): . .and I guess those of us of a certain generation aren’t allowed to find a man handsome. . .sorry dude. . .we’re still here.

What they are doing can any one say discussing or having dinner or what?

@Jon (one of the other ones): Hizzonor is quite handsome, I like his style, it’s appropriately modest, he seems well-groomed. We mustn’t let those of us at a certain generation get shoved out the back door because our tastes and refinements are dated. And in all honesty, we’re the ones who decided to stand up and be counted FIRST. How about a little respect here for the codger brigade?

A judge is prohibited by judicial ethics from saying almost anything that might be connected with any case, to almost anyone other than his clerks and the lawyers who are in that case. And, if there is any doubt whether or not a question might be connected with a case, he has to treat it as if it is. As a result, he basically cannot speak to reporters. Judges have family and friends and neighbors, but they aren’t supposed to talk shop with them, either. It’s a lonely way to live.
Let him have his dinner. Perhaps greet him cordially. But there is no point to push him about anything relating to a case. At best it will get no reply. At worst, it could blow the case.
