Julianne Moore and Fran Drescher have stood up for Jennifer Tyrell, the lesbian mom who was ousted from her position as den leader from her son’s Boy Scout troop for being gay.
Both Moore and Drescher tweeted: “Dear @boyscouts, on Mother’s Day I support Jennifer & ALL moms, gay & straight! #scoutsforall http://change.org/scouts.”
Other celebs who have been involved in the campaign, spearheaded by GLAAD, include Josh Hutcherson, Benecio del Toro, Jane Leeves, and the casts of Glee and the Real Housewives.
The issue has even touched the California State Assembly, which passed a measure Tuesday recommending the Boy Scouts to end its policy of anti-gay discrimination. The L.A. Times reports:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
The panel passed a separate measure by Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles), chairman of the committee, that honors the Boy Scouts while urging the group ‘to accept for membership and leadership positions all qualified boys and men, without discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation or religious belief.’ “
Who’ll come out against the Boy Scouts next? Mitt Romney? Didn’t he already say he wanted gays in the Boy Scouts, like, 20 years ago?

Hey, BSA! Your organization does too much good to throw it away like this, especially on a position logically contrary to what you’re supposed to stand for. Rethink while there’s still time.
