The 19-year-old pop prince fainted backstage in London yesterday and was taken to a hospital, where he took this Instagram pic to show his adoring throngs that he and his abs were a-okay.

Hispanics that are 100% European tend to be hairy, while those that are 100% Indian tend to be less so (with exceptions on both sides). MikeE – why so much hate for this kid? I know how to read music but can’t just hear a song and know how to play it by ear. That is a pretty amazing talent imo. Further, your comments about “real musicians” suffering because of the success of Bieber of course applies to 90% of popular artists right now, so it makes me wonder why Bieber seems to get singled out. Here’s what I think. He’s young, small and androgynous. I too find his recent overcompensation kind of sad, but then again I’m not a public figure who is the subject of the kind of hate he is. If people didn’t ridicule him constantly for “looking like a girl”, maybe he wouldn’t feel the need to try to be something different.

And yes, I would say the SAME thing about any talentless pop-hack who thinks they’re god’s gift to the arts’ scene.
You can read music but you can’t just hear a song and play it by ear? You can learn how to.
But don’t be fooled into thinking that Bieber is some great musical talent because he can screw around on piano or guitar or drums (and “a bit of trumpet” according to his bio). I can do the same thing on a dozen instruments. Of course, I can also fill a concert hall and play seriously for two hours.
Bieber is a pop singer (and I use the word “singer” VERY loosely) like so many others. he is neither more nor less talented than any other pop singer, and is neither more nor less deserving of any sort of praise than any other pop singer. He is deserving of THAT LEVEL of praise… he’s a pop singer. Not a real artist. He is a disposable commodity. Like every other pop singer. Vacuous lyrics. Inane music. Superficial choreography. There’s nothing to admire in that.
What is sad, and upsetting, is that there are thousands of extremely talented musicians out there, who have been working their a$$es off all their lives, and yet, because of the limited market, cannot break through. And yes, it’s frustrating to see someone like Bieber, as talentless and full of himself as can be, make all the millions… all because contemporary society is satisfied to mire in regurgitated pap like Bieber and his ilk put out.

Yes, I’m surprised more teeny-boppers don’t listen to Mahler. Look, the kid took a pretty face and modest talent and made the most of it by working with the right people to give a certain market segment exactly what they wanted. It’s business. MikeE – I personally think rock is just as manufactured as pop and just as image based – they just sell to a different audience. I just don’t understand why Bieber gets singled out for so much hate on the internet when others don’t and I think there’s an aspect of bullying to that singling out, especially the severity of the hateful things said. People do not pick on sexy girls like Rhianna who obviously aren’t all about the talent or tough guys like 50 cent because the images they represent mirrors society’s rules for males and females. Bieber gets all the abuse and mainly because he appeals to young girls and isn’t considered manly. That’s prejudice imo. Not liking his style of music or commercial music in general is another matter, but again it should be applied to all not just to one person because they are an easy target and don’t have a ‘cool’ audience.

As for your criticisms, I agree that the music industry is crap, but maybe you need to calm down, take a deep breath, and get a little perspective. He is basically still a kid (and certainly was when they started using him) and as much a “victim” of The Machine as a beneficiary, so I don’t see why you direct so much vitriol at a child who is not really responsible for the system.

Justin looks like a 14 year old girl. He’s pretty, but not hot-too childish looking in my book. I saw him on Chelsea a few years back, right when he started exploding and thought what a nice child. He was kind of witty for a 14 year old. But now he seems to be in child star trouble. It seems this kid needs some structure to his life because he’s headed down a path of self-destruction, a road paved with the careers of many former child stars.
