As the jury in alleged gay basher Kathryn Knott‘s trial continues to deliberate, a young man claiming to be Knott’s gay cousin has posted an urgent message on Facebook in defense of the 25-year-old police chief’s daughter.
“For those of you who don’t know, my cousin Kathryn’s name has been slandered, as she has been harshly accused of crimes that involved an assault on individuals in supposed response to their sexual orientations,” the note begins.
Perkins goes on to say Knott is not homophobic. He knows this for a fact because she never once judged him for singing along to High School Musical or gushing about how cute he thought actor Troy Bolton was, and she even helped paint his nails at a family reunion one time.

“Kathryn had never once made me feel uncomfortable for being or expressing myself,” Perkins writes. “This is a girl who loves so kindly that even my young and confused self could find comfort in her presence.”
“And yet,” Perkins continues, “this is the girl whose reputation is being brutally attacked in a misguided effort to protect a community that I know she cares about. And that is not okay.”

Let’s just clarify a few things real quick… Knott is 25 years old. She’s not a “girl,” she’s a grown woman. And admitting in court to using the word “gay” as an insult and calling people “dykes” in a joking manner does not exactly paint her out to seem like an LGBTQ ally. Oh, and let’s not forget her slew of disparaging antigay tweets, or the fact that she was caught on camera participating in a hate crime against an innocent gay couple.
All this, however, seems to be irrelevant to Perkins, who writes: “To my brothers, sisters, and non-binary siblings in the LGBTQ+ community of Pennsylvania, I’d like to say this: our fight for equality cannot be won at the expense of an innocent girl’s, this innocent girl’s, expense.”
He concludes his missive with a plea to the jury in Knott’s trial, begging: “To the jury members who have to make a decision tomorrow: please allow Kathryn to go home.”
Assistant District Attorney Michael Barry brought the note to the attention of Judge Roxanne Covington, who has been presiding over the case. Barry said he did not believe the jury had seen the post, however, so Covington chose not to take any actions over it.
Jury deliberations carried on into the lunch recess today. We’ll keep you posted on the verdict, which is expected at any moment.

I’m as guilty as the next person for calling her a skanky disgusting bitch, but at the heart of this, this IS a trial, to determine if there is enough evidence to suggest that Kathryn Knott assaulted, or was complicit in the assault on a gay couple, with her two friends.
Yes, the Tweets and Facebook comments suggest that this girl is homophobic, but ultimately, that just proves that she is a puerile small minded cow. It doesn’t necessarily prove that she actually hit anyone, or even encouraged her two cohorts to hit anyone. Her comments are only circumstantial & related to character, not to her actions.
I’m hoping the prosecution does have enough evidence to jail her if she is guilty. Already her two friends have accepted responsibility and made admissions. Sadly it is harder for the prosecution to prove guilt, but if she is guilty, getting her gay cousin to make a character reference, is a deplorable move, and one set to sidetrack the jury from what was important & fundamental to the trial…
