@AEM: That’s actually a really good point. Maybe it wasn’t Kathy who crossed the line so much as Better who needed to learn to take a joke! Regardless, that whole segment felt really uncomfortable.

I live for Kathy Griffin. I think she’s hilarious and “of the people,” and I’m so glad she’s becoming so successful. Everything the woman does is genius.

I know I’m alone on this one, but (DON’T SHOOT) Bette Midler came off as really unappealing in the season premiere. Excuse me while I go die in gay exile.

Whatever. Her comment about recycling jokes because it’s good for the environment had everyone in my apartment crying from laughter.

i think Bette kindof ruined the first episode. kathy’s show excels when she’s put into inadvertantly awkward moments, and there weren’t any.

I like the new season of her show. First episode in my opinion was very funny. Bette Modler has great sense of humor.

OK maybe that was a little bit harsh :) I just went back and watched the David Letterman interview, and it’s WAY funny. That’s the Kathy I love.

The ego has landed, and it’s ruining Kathy’s comedy. The new season seems very scripted and lacking the underdog charm and wacky spontaneity of previous seasons. I have been known to cry from laughing so hard at Kathy’s stage shows and previous “D-list” seasons, but this new season was barely funny at all. She just seems like she’s TRYING so hard. I was bummed. The Grammy scenes were painfully boring and awkward. Bette Midler seemed genuinely annoyed with her for recycling the lame d*ck joke during her Vegas show. I felt embarrassed for Kathy. She’s clearly reached a new level of fame and success, and it’s not helped her comedy. And she references “the gays” like every 15 seconds… it just seems sort of desperate. Yeah, we love you, but you can’t use us as a crutch all the time. I want the old, underdog Kathy back! This reminds me of another Bravo series, Workout, and how we watched Jackie Warner go from being a feisty, scrappy trainer/businesswoman who we wanted to succeed, to an egotistical, self-involved monster over the course of 3 seasons.

I’ll have to say that I liked it and didn’t find it boring at all. I do agree that she is hilarious during interviews promoting her show. I have seen all Life on the D-List seasons and I’ve seen her perform live several times and I prefer much more to just watch the show. I think the show is as funny as it can be considering that it is not a ‘stand-up comedy show’ or a sitcom. After all, it is about what she needs to go through to not be on the D-list anymore, and as she said several times she is just an A-Lister in training. For some reason, I think that making jokes of celebrities so much does not work for this show.

Jon & Kate? Don’t even get me started… LOL! Who are they anyway? I can’t believe people is interested in them… ughhhh!

The problem about the new Kathy Griffin season, is that it become too obvious that it’s scripted television. I mean, the whole paparazzi issue is not funny. I want to hear Kathy make jokes about celebrities, not run around and make a fool of herself. The other thing, Kathy is way too famous now to continue claiming herself to be D-List.
I loved seeing Bette Midler, though. She is a goddess, in my eyes. And still looks fabulous. I loved her response to Kathy’s cosmetic surgery question.
