JOYFUL NOISE

Kelly Clarkson And Sam Smith Celebrate Gay Love And Marriage With New Music Videos

Screen Shot 2015-02-05 at 10.35.37 AMTwo pop music powerhouses, Kelly Clarkson and Sam Smith, have released videos for their latest singles and both feature loving gay couples either falling in love or being joined in holy matrimony.

Former contest winner Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song,” marks the first release from her forthcoming sixth album Piece By Piece. Her video chronicles several couples, including two gay men, meeting, falling in love and kissing.

Smith takes it a step further and even stars as a groom marrying his male partner in the video for “Lay Me Down,” the latest single from his platinum-selling, Grammy Award-nominated album In the Lonely Hour. The out performer explained his concept for the video with a note posted to Facebook:

Dear All, Here is the Link to the LAY ME DOWN music video. This song holds a very dear place in my heart. With this video myself and Ryan Hope the director have decided to make a statement and showcase something we passionately believe in. This video shows my dreams that one day gay men and women and transgendered men and women all over the world, like all our straight families and friends, will be able to get married under any roof, in any city, in any town, in any village, in any country. I hope you enjoy it. I love you all x
