Kidman to Play World's First Post-Op Transsexual

Australian actress Nicole Kidman will star in the movie adaptation of David Ebershoff's best-selling novel from 2000, The Danish Girl, about Einar Wegener, the world's first postop male transsexual. Charlize Theron will play Wegener's wife, Gerda. [E!]

The only trouble with the story is the chronology (and I haven't read the novel so can't comment on that). In real life Einar Wegener, aka Lili Elbe, was 48 when he went through the first of five sexual-reassignment surgeries and died two years later at age 50 after complications of a uterus-transplant rejection (he previous had ovaries implanted but they were rejected too). Presumably the film will pretty all this up, as well as wife Gerda's lesbianism.

Great movie idea but why Kidman…?
If anyone, this part was made for Tilda Swinton…

Shame on your pronoun usage! Please respect her gender identity…
