I hate, hate, hate, HATE Peta. They’re so braindead and blind in their devotion to their nonsense goals of universal vegetarianism. I’ve got news for them: Humans are SUPPOSED TO EAT MEAT! That’s just how the evolution cookie crumbled for us, so just let it go. They even go so far as using images from Finding Nemo to scare children into not eating HEALTHY fish, and some even advocate not drinking milk. They make me want to go outside and maim every animal I see!
I like that they are against cruelty to animals and stuff, but they take it too far and that totally undermines the good they do.
It’s a question of whether I -want- to be a carnivore or not; I am a carnivore. As a human being my teeth and digestive systems evolved in such a way as to allow me to digest both vegetables AND MEAT. Being omnivorous is not a choice, it’s a biological fact. I’m not againist vegetarianism (I want to be become one myself; it’s the healthier option) but when idiotic Peta people scold meat eaters for eating meat like they are supposed to, that’s when I get annoyed.
I know the fabulous Lady Bunny is fun to look at, but if you would take the 2 seconds to actually read the poster you’d see that it doesn’t attack eating animals (in this case chickens) but the cruel way they are treated by KFC suppliers.
On that note, I find it ironic that they chose Lady Bunny, shes choked more chickens in her lifetime than KFC has.
Citizen Geek: I could give way more reasons why human beings “naturally” are vegetarians. All I know is, I’ve been one for years and I have no high cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. problems unlike my meat-eating friends. And yes, I also think it’s more humane.
You made it sound like that was somehow offensive.

Let’s hear them, then. How are humans built to be vegetarians?
I’m not disputing it’s the healthier option, but eating meat is not inhumane and is, in fact, 100% natural for human beings.
@ HCG- do we need to be *heavy* meat eaters? It’s entirely possible to consume animals/animal products in healthy moderation.
@Citizengeek – Have you taken a look at what’s in industry meat lately? Sorry, but choking down (animal) antibiotics, hormones, and whatever other horrible sh!t we’re not being told about is not ‘natural’ for a human. Properly reared meat, however, is entirely acceptable (but ridiculously pricey these days).
My prob w/Peta is that they’re generally over-privileged, sanctimonious, self-righteous hypocritical, attentionwhores; not the vegetarian philosophy.
^^^ you make a great point. If people saw what beef cattle were fed, let alone how they’re treated and how they’re slaughtered, they’d never eat meat again.
Even if I did eat meat, it would only be free range, grain fed. As it is, I only drink organic milk & free-range eggs.
Have you ever noticed how people who eat meat always get weird illnesses, feel badly – and, as noted, they smell bad.
Tolstoy said that anyone eating meat should have to kill his own animal. That would turn anyone into a vegetarian.
I remained a vegetarian for humanitarian reasons, but I originally became a vegetarian because meat just came to gross me out. Nothing in the intervening years has made it any less gross to me.
If I were out in the wild, I would kill an animal myself to eat. Eventually, I would not be grossed out by having to do everything myself, like skinning it or skewering the raw, dripping meat over a small fire to make it safe to eat and aid in digestion and nutrient absorption. Wild animals kill other animals all the time and don’t consider whether they’re treating prey “inhumanely” when, for example, they inject poison into them to induce paralysis before consuming them whole.

^^^ Get a life. If you want to be a carnivore, go ahead but don’t like vegetarians are doing something bad!

Aside from the fact that PETA’s tactics are at times as morally reprehensible as the Xtian Fundies and other extremists
YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME FOR ONE MINUTE THAT LADY BUNNY IS GIVING UP FRIED CHICKEN.

Bunny must feel guilty after all that Gerbiling she did in the 70’s.

PETA’s first objective is to make sure animals are treated humanely when being used as products.
